what has your occupation brought to your game?

RPGs help me with my job as often as my job helps me with RPGs.

I'm an in-house web developer, who helps clients decide what they want, and then builds it. While I graduated college with an English degree, and have no trouble with words, I suffer from creative block when it comes to visuals/images.

So I consider myself artistically-challenged, but when I'm playing DnD or SW (the two I play), it's very easy to form mental images of the scenery, actions and characters. Sometimes those images are beautiful, and I can transfer that into an electronic concept.

I DM'ed a one-off adventure just to try it once, and before we sat down to play I had emailed each of the players with a custom description of the first scene, including some gifts to each PC. All of them generally agreed that they were well-crafted, and a fun way to set the stage.

Writing's part of my job, but I had that skill before I started. The only advantage I can relate specifically to my job is that it's easier to PbP on the ENWorld Forums once you understand how the vB Code works.

I'm a PHD student in psycholinguistics with a strong bias towards neuroscience. I once did an adventure, in which a goodhearted but naive scientist thought he could ban out evil from the human brain by performing a sort of micro transmutation in the brain, using his anatomical, psychological and arcane knowledge. needless to say, this went horribly wrong :D

Being a scientist with a healthy interest in history, I put a lot of history of science in my games.

being a very young (my students are as old as I am) and inexperienced teacher, my experience as a DM also helps a lot :)

I'm a PhD student in physics. My occupation has taught me when to shut the heck up about the details, and get to the meat of the matter :)

I'm a PhD student in statistics. My occupation has taught me how to rig the dice rolls for best effect.

Computer Programmer - well I keep writing programs for myself to use. Got tired of searching through books to find a spell and its stats. Now I type it in and the whole thing pops up. Or a random treasure generator. Type in the level of treasure and it spits back a full treasure block complete with randomly generated weapons, armor, or other magic items.
I still want to write my own battle manager but haven't figured out what I actually want yet.

Student, majoring in applied mathematics. Knowledge of probability and statistics allow me to analyze the game, but I'm not sure if it adds anythinng to the game. Might even detract from it.

Financial Analyst/Senior Accountant: Designed a semi-reasonable economics and trade system that the PCs can take part in during their adventures (running a caravan, inn, tavern, etc).

Also, all the items on everyone's character sheets will be accounted for perfectly. I said perfectly. ;)
