What have you done on your dying turn?

This is something from a guy who writes a "story hour" on Monte's Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil boards. Here's his profile link:

HP Below Zero
Upon reaching zero or negative hit-points a character is not automatically rendered unconscious, they enter a state called Death's Door. Characters who reach zero or below become exhausted (-6 dexterity, -6 strength,) In the Death’s Door state, a character is impaired in both his ability to move and act, being limited to a single move action or a single standard action (not both). A character dies when they reach -10 hit points.

On the initial hit when a character is put into Death's Door, and any hit on the character while in that state, that person must make a DC 15 Fortitude check or fall down.
If a character moves they can take a 5’ step or move at ½ speed and they cannot take another action. If a player takes a standard action, they cannot move other than a 5’ step. Characters go unconscious when they reach -10 HP, and are dead when they reach below their constitution score. Characters cannot go lower than their constitution score and die when reaching that point. A character in Death’s Door can be stabilized, but any movement other than a 5' step, or casting spells with a somantic requirement ends the stabilization and the -1 hp/round penalty is once again implied. Using a weapon or anything that could be viewed as strenuous will also end the stabalization. (Grabbing a potion and drinking it would not be considered strenuous, nor is reading a scroll or using a wand).

Characters attempting to cast a spell in this state must make a concentration check DC 15 + spell level or be unable to complete the spell. (Spells not completed in this way are not lost, just unable to be concentrated on enough to be initiated/started).

Note: Characters in this critical state do not threaten any squares, (hence they do not get any AoO's, nor provide any form of flanking).

The feat Die Hard, normally allows characters to go until negative 10 with the above restrictions. With the house rule, Die Hard now allows a character to go to -9 HP without entering the Death's Door state. Upon reaching -10, the character is dead.

So, has anyone else made such a cool move on 0 hp?

In our Birthright game, we were going through Return to White Plume Mountain. My cleric got tagged with a Scarab of Death, and he knew he was going down in this fight with a bunch of undead, but no one else did. He took his turn by blasting some undead with a pair of Holy Smites (3.0 Hasted), and then vomited a gout of blood, and keeled over.

Of course, the sacrifice was kind of cheapened by his being taken back to home base and being hit with the True Res staff.

This is so against the spirit of the thread, but...

"Well, I'm on full hp even after the ghoul fight, and whatever's in there has the dwarf. So I'll activate my ki frenzy and open the door."

The rest, as they say, is wall art. Fortunately we had a druid bringing the noise, or we might all be squick instead of just me.

Something kinda close. In my last campaign, teleportation was going awry, so if you teleported, you'd hit a pocket of freezing void, and take damage that could kill you if you tried to teleport far enough. Only Elves had figured out how to avoid this damage.

We had a player in my game who was trying to woo this Elvish princess they had captured, named Shalosha. Rantle, the human PC, was convinced Shalosha wasn't an enemy, but she hated the party, and the rest of the party didn't trust her. Shalosha gets free in a rescue attempt by her allies, and during the fight, Rantle gets critted by her, taking something like 20 damage. Though this isn't quite fatal, I decide for flavor that she has impaled him on her longsword, which is now stuck through the side of his abdomen.

Rantle drops his swords, walks forward just a bit, then embraces and kisses her.

Shalosha panics at this, and tries to dimension door away. Rantle is holding onto her, though, so he goes with her. She is unharmed because she has protections, but the short-distance teleport freezes Rantle, and he emerges nearly dead, at 0 hp. Rantle smiles at her, then slides down off the length of the sword, slumping to the ground. It was certainly a memorable kiss.

Not *exactly*, what this thread is about, but ...

I took up NWN again today and played a module with a bleeding-to-death script, ie the DnD rules for HP below 0 are implemented. So one enemy warlock hit me with a couple of cones of cold and I went to -7. Not that nice, but not bad either as I had a ring of regeneration and the other party members proceeded to whack the hell outta the warlock.

But then a funny thing happened: I had tried to counterspell the warlock's cone of cold and counterspell was still on ... so suddenly my character got up, counterspelled an energy drain and fell back to the ground, still at -5 hp and listed as 'dead'. Without getting to cast spells the warlock went down quickly and the regeneration brought me back, too. Good fun :)

Yeah well. Bbn1/Rog2/Brd4 in a level 10 group with two other level 5 newbies. Was leaning against the wall with 0 hitpoints and See invisibility at the back of the big room, moving my dancing lights all the time where the enemy wizard was (noone in that big baddy group was able to look for invisible enemies :() while singing some funny song. Our frontline uberfighter gets mauled piece by piece by the three ftr6 henchmen of the wizard, even though the level 5 monk girl was helping him pretty much... Both the monk and our fighter manage to hit the invisible mage pretty badly, he starts to flee. I start to rage, charge forward into flanking position (since the fighter moved through the bodyguards) and score a critical hit, the monk girl unleashes a flurry of blows against another bodyguard and hits twice thanks to my +3 from flanking and singing... Then we helped the cleric and our archer.

Nothing like dropping unconscious while raging right after you saved your groups clerics back.

Well, it was 2nd Edition, and I was a 14th level wizard. Everyone had dropped around me, and I had 1 hp left, but a 75 percent magic resistance. The dragon had about 50 hp...not sure, it was a long time ago...but I figured...75 percent MR...So I retributive strike my Staff of the Magi, killing the dragon, the unconcious party members, whom were hoping to get raised or ressurected...then rolled a 92 on my mr....a non-gm tpk...thank you very much

The game is Rolemaster. I have a 1st level Seer, we're fighting a few goblins. One scores a really nasty critical on me, the description says I have 5 rounds to live. I manage to Sleep the goblin, then slit his throat. With my last action before I die... I cast Intuitions (lets me see what will happen in the next minute or so if I follow a certain course of action) and watch my own death. Then I die. :)

I wish I could take credit for this, but it was a friend of mine. We were fighting a group of some strange spider-like things out of the Creature Collection and Con-damaging poison had taken a pretty serious toll on our party. Our Rogue rolled a save for secondary damage and missed. His last words were "Either this demon queen of spiders has to go or I do." Nerdy, I know, but still fun.
