What I love about this game

As a DM, I feel like a novelist.

My parents aren't exactly in touch, and for christmas, they bought me a strategy guide to a game I don't even own... The book's already spawned two monster stat blocks. The fact that inspiration to broaden the game jumps out at you from strange places simply delights me.

That's the kind of mindset a DM needs to have. When the world gives you lemons, polymorph 'em into bugbears and give 'em rogue levels. :D

Right on!

I don't play video games, but I often glean inspiration from commercials for them.

Same goes for Anime.

And trust me, if your parents got you something even that tangientally related, be grateful. What my parents got me was...was...they mean well.

i'm breaking out the raggomuffin or the cloaker for my next session. my folks got me jackets.

maybe a revised sheet phantom to go with the set of sheets my eldest sister bought me.

LOL! New monsters based on Christmas presents. How cool! :D

Lemme see...uh, I got the videogame Harvest Moon in which you play...a farmer. Any ideas guys?

I got two pounds of walnuts.

Shelled.

My inlaws really have no idea what to get me.

(To be fair, there was also a nice fat check. But still...walnuts?)

The party's next enemy wields a scythe - with a keen edge... :]

The only gaming material I've ever gotten as a present was the Stronghold Builder's Guide, 3 years ago. I havn't exactly worn it out... :\ No complaints this year though, every present was both needed and welcome!
