What if I changed Marks thusly?

Given a lot of the concerns aired on these boards about Marks, their application, and how realistic they are for enemies that are farther away than adjacent, I have started thinking about adjustments to make them easier all around. i just can't help myself.

What if the Markee was automatically the enemy last attacked by the Marker and the Marker must continue to threaten the Markee for the effect to remain in place?

Tracking the mark and justifying it as the "Marker interferes with any attacks not directed at him" becomes easier.

What do you think?

The KoTS Fighter Marks last until the end of the Fighter's next turn, so effectively they already are the enemy last attacked by the marker (barring area attacks, action point expenditures and OAs), and only continue as long as the Fighter keeps attacking (though not necessarily threatening) that guy. Marks appear to work with any attack, not just melee - you can think of a ranged mark as suppressive fire during that round.

The Paladin mark is magically enforced, so I'm not sure it needs any more justification than it already has.
