On Adding 3rd Party Materials into a game
If a player wants to add something, the conversation goes something like this: "No. Loan me the book and the answer becomes Maybe. If I think the feature you want is underpowered, the answer will likely become Yes."

I know I'm arguing hard for my original positions, and you're arguing the argument, but that's what arguments are SUPPOSED to be. Strongly held intellectual positions that come to some sort of compromise or understanding.

Now for paladin players, here's a safe analogy to use as a rule of thumb:
1) If you're clearly more powerful than your enemy, ask yourself, "What would Superman do?"
2) If you're NOT clearly more powerful than your enemy, go with, "What would Batman do?"

Ah, I shoulda known that. I was like 'Od and d is the ...' but wasn't sure if that was right and I couldn't remember the rest of it. I am pretty bad at acronyms though, so it's no surprise I couldn't think of it clearly.

OD&D(1974) is the only true game. All the other editions are just poor imitations of the real thing. :D

I've spent almost an hour searching back through this baord to find the spectacular moment you said to Col_Pladoh that a spell (Magic Missile, I think) worked one way because it was in OD&D, as written by " a guy called Gygax" or words to that effect, and he responded by saying "Man, what kind of man would keep playing OD&D when AD&D came out? I was clearly superior!"

Inspiring? No, but it was easilly the greatest moment I've ever seen on the forums and I literally rolled on the floor laughing. If anyone can help me recapture that moment, I'd appreciate it. :>
