What is a good non-d20 sci-fi RPG?

Either d6 Space or Savage Worlds. SW would probably be your best bet as it is super fast and super fun. And I totally think it's more cinematic ruleset would fit BSG very well.

I'd use Jovian Chronicles. The rules are all there which means little to no work at all for you. You might glance at it and think it's all mecha and big robots. You'd be wrong. Ignoring all those unwanted elements is as easy as..err...ignoring them completely. No work AT ALL needed on your part. They don't tie into the rules so it won't affect your game what so ever. Look here and scroll down to the middle of the page. Take a look at all civilian and military vessels. Then scroll down to the bottom to the Fighters and Interceptors. I'd probably use the Lancer as the Colonial Viper and the Wraith as the Cylon Interceptor, both of which come in a variety of designs.

The RPG rules are suitably gritty and very easy to learn and use.

Count me as another Star Hero player ... also like Mekton Zeta (the capital ship creation is nice), True20 and don't really mind d20 Future :)

I've played Traveller and Space Opera back in the day and would suggest the former. That Paranoia sounds cool, too. What's the tone of the game? Will you try to be RPing mostly or meta-gaming your way through episodic problems?
