D&D Minis series 14

on the wizards of the coast homepage under previews you can see pictures of 2 of the minis from desert of desolation:
- Umber Hulk (large)
- Drow Spider Priestess (medium)

together with the 3 creatures shown on the boosters (some sort of mummy, an armored guy made of living fire & a female Drider) we now know what 5 of the 60 miniatures look like.

Spider Priestess. Ugh. Not again. Come on, give the rest of the Dark Seldarine some spotlight. Well, not exactly spotlight - most of them would only be blinded, and of the rest, most prefers shadows, anyway. But back to drow clerics: After the Arachnomancer and the Cleric of Lolth (not to mention the Drow Wizard), I'd have thought we'd have enough drow casters with spider motif. I'd have relented if she'd be swinging a snakehead scourge.

The Umber Hulk (in Umber no less) looks good, though. Of course, we don#t know yet whether it's Rare or not...

I still have copies of the original I-series modules. My players were pretty fond of them even if they hated the idea of fighting a mummy.

The original had doppelgangers (whee, fun!), a mummy of course, and cultists.

I really liked the purple worm "stampede" in the first module. It threw my players right into Dune mode and we went from there.

That encounter becomes much easier if you change only a single letter!

[sblock=Which letter you ask?]the "f" in fighting. Make it an "l"[/sblock]

Umber Hulk is cool and welcomed even though I got a bunch already (luck of the draw) The Drow Priestess (drow in general) are very much over used. I would like to see some different motiffs also. ah well

Mummy was expected. Female Drider..... maybe I won't be usung the Aspect of Lolth as a fill in too much longer. The other guy sounds like the new golem they have in MMV made of magma. If done right that should be an awesome looking figure.

Is anyone else worried about the lack of a Dragon on a box cover? I hope we have dragons in this set.

Yay for a new Umber Hulk! :D

I'm also mildly pleased with the Drow Cleric. I wonder what rarity the 2 will be. I'm guessing that they'll both be Rares. I'm hoping that they might be Uncommons but I doubt it. Either way, the next set is off to a promising start.
