D&D General What is something you did "just for one campaign" that now your players demand.

So in my last dnd game, it was meant as an extensive exploration kind of campaign, so I made a very detailed map for it. Distances and travel times were actually a big part of it.

In my next campaign, it was a much more high octane campaign more on action and less on details. So I barely created a world much less a map. And yet, my players keep asking me for places and locations and distances, and now I'm mapping all over again!

What is something you only intended to do in one campaign, but have found your players demand for it has carried into future campaigns?

I made a map for each PC back in 3e, but I photocopied it and added certain details tailored to each PC. The players all thought they had the same map for a while until they were at a lake and the wizard mentioned a town in the lake that is located under the water. The others were all, I don't know what you are talking about, and finally they all started comparing maps and cool-this and I did not know that. It was a good DM moment. Next campaign I did it again and they all started by swapping maps, but this time they were all the same. It might be time to do it again.
