What is the best-rolling die?

The golf-ball-sized d100 I once had. Man, loose that thing on a clear table and it would roll until the sun went down.

Edit: Ah, er, ahem, of the standard six I would say... d12. That sucker just doesn't get enough of the limelight these days.

That's a good question. It wasn't Crystal Caste or Chessex... I ran across them at a weird booth with a bunch of other unusual dice.

What is the best/easiest/most fun die to roll of the standard 6?

Do you dislike rolling a particular die?

best/easiest/most goes to the d20 for me. Just something about it, maybe that so much usually rides at that dice, not sure, but it ranks pretty high in my book!


My least favorite is the d4 from the rolling standpoint. I can just never get those things to roll high. Fun looking dice though!

d6 is definitely the way to go - it has the nicest rolling properties, comes to a rest, and everyone's familiar with it. I've got pretty good luck with the buggers, too.
I've tried to restructure d20 so that it would be a 2d6 core mechanic instead, but it's more work than it's worth.

I'm not a fan of d8's either. They always roll poorly for me. There's nothing quite like rolling 2d8 for damage... and getting 3 as your total. *blech*

When you say "standard 6", do you mean the standard shapes, i.e. the Platonic solids plus the dipyramedal d10, or do you mean the standard ranges, i.e. 1-4, 1-6, 1-8, 1-10, 1-12, 1-20?
