What is the DC for sleeping characters to hear?

::shakes head:: I assume you are looking for more ammo, Tom?

This belongs in Rules, but I'll answer.

If the area is silenced, I don't believe you CAN make listen checks without epic rules.

As for sleeping characters. They are always "taking-zero" on their listen checks.

Note, I'm not 100% the above is core, but if it isn't it is the widely accepted rule-0.

If the area is silenced, then nobody inside the area can make listen checks, because all sound is gone, and nobody outside the area can make listen checks upon anything inside the area.

Unless the silenced area silences something that the listener was hearing BEFORE, he won't be able to readily notice anything. If, on the other hand, the listener is suddenly included into the area, this is an immensely jarring sensation that could quite easily jolt somebody out of his sleep, like going to sleep near your computer, and having somebody suddenly turn it off, killing the fan noise. The exact DC of it would vary depending on how accustomed the target is to the noise, and how loud the noise is. For example, my computer fan is very loud, and the sudden removal of this noise can rouse me instantly from exhaustion, which would probably make it something like DC -30.

Silence is silence, nuff said.

Sleeping characters... I would assume them to be taking 10 for their listen checks with a default 2 point penalty for sleeping. Depending on the environment maybe less or more. The sneaky iron golem would have to make a successful move silently check to stomp past unnoticed.
