Then it's really poorly named.Forgotten Realms is the most remembered D&D setting.

Just to note because I saw your question on the other thread:And now we have our answer:
The future of the Forgotten Realms is Thay.
My mind:What is the future of the forgotten realms?
One of the upcoming classic settings to be released is supposed to be a a return to a setting that they've already visited in 5e. If I were to place any bets, I'd say that that will be the Forgotten Realms.Between 2014 and March 2019 there were I believe 12 5E adventures published by WOTC that were set in the forgotten realms, including LMOP and DOIP. They started to scale back in 2020 and 2021 with only one published each of those years (ROFM, CKM).
Now it seems there is no forgotten realms adventure that is going to be published in the next year.
Is WOTC planning to scale back or abandon the Forgotten Realms setting?
Isn't the upcoming movie set in FR? If that does well I imagine that would want to build off of that.If I was a betting man, I would say yes.
There is nothing to be gained at this point in leaning into FR.
It's been replaced.
I don't know, but it won't be canon.Isn't the upcoming movie set in FR? If that does well I imagine that would want to build off of that.
Thank goodness! If I had to treat the previous movies as canon I don't think I could pick up a d20!I don't know, but it won't be canon.
By what exactly do you think has replaced it?It's been replaced.
