Hey, jontherev
Thanks for taking time to reply. I wrote that post after 64 hours of no sleep and a horrible last 5 hours of that time. Thanks for pointing out my mistakes and sorry if I was a bit sensitive.
I was thinking, here is another D&D llama who hasn't even read my post thoroughly and proceeds to tell me how it really is.
I guess we just disagree about the 5' spot thing. I am thinking it doesn't matter how high the dragon's spot is - if you suddenly are within 5' of the dragon - he is spotting you while you are attacking him. I can see the logic in allowing the dragon to get a spot check before you can attack especially considering the limitation on DD which I must admit I was unaware of.
To fix I guess he could just have a scroll of teleport w/o error or something like that.
Also, about the readied action - the rules I don't think are very clear here. However, let's nix the whole thing and just say you use teleport w/o error on a scroll while ethereal (assuming dragon cannot see ethereal) and swing your crescent knife. The moment your crescent knife is about to hit the dragon, you cancel the ethereal. I really think that in this scenario you would get to surprise the dragon.
Typo was completely my fault - my apologies.
I have read the description of true strike and I am using a liberal interpretation for attack roll to mean the first attack. I think this won't necessarily be a problem though. Again, using the helmet where drinking potions becomes a free action and you can drink two as free actions before a move equivalent action to rotate the helmet. Just summon a creature to reload the empty containers on the helmet with more potions of true strike and don't have your familiar throw those acid flasks
. That was just to rub in the dragon's face how cool you were btw
. So I suppose I was considering the attacks to occur simultaneously allowing the true strike to effect both. If we say that they are not simultaneous or whatever and that true strike only effects one then just drink two potions of true strike at a time and have a few more. THey are cheap enough - only 50 gp.
When I have a bit more time I will revise the 9th level vs red great wyrm smackdown to fix all of these errors. I am pretty sure I can still pull it off.
Oh, and I would never-ever actually play with a character like this - come on, crescent knives are broken.

Thanks jontherev
