What is the most damage you've ever seen a character do in one round?

Yeah, enough of the PC triumphs. What's the worst damage a monster or NPC has done to you?

Sometimes this shows up as a GM whoops. "Yeah, I knew that having a badguy with a keen greataxe with flaming burst might be bad, but I didn't think he'd kill you in one shot..."

The one I can think of is when I was playtesting an upcoming encounter for a short-run game of 4 10th level PCs. A hill giant with a ranger level was to ambush them. I originally gave the hill giant the Improved Critical feat, and a potion of haste. In my playtest the giant peeked over the ridge of the hill and threw three boulders at the flatfooted bard. Two confirmed crits. The bard was killed in one shot.

"Hmm... maybe I'll give him some other feat. He isn't meant to be a party killer."

We had a party that was camped out in a dungeon that awoke to the sound of a wail of the banshee, and the smell of 7 different gorgon breaths. It was save 8 times or die. Oh, and there was a mass charm thrown in. I think the DM wanted us dead, but he had a crappy style, if the books said to do something, he'd do it, even if it meant TPK. Luckily, we had 2 survivors, and one had a ring of limited wish to wish back the wizard from stone, who had a ring of teleport circle that got our bodies, and statues, back to safty. I know it's not damage, but it was alot of saving throws. In the same game my barbarian was hit by an enraged, strength potion drinking, mercurial greatsword wielding barbarian. He critted for over 100 damage. The upshot of this, is that our party fighter, a mecurial greatsword wielder himself, had won initiative, and instead of attacking this barbarian, he chose to defensivily assist me, cause I was at the front of the party. He won't live that one down soon.
