What is the oldest self-produced RPG material you still have?

francisca

I got dice older than you.
I was digging around last night and came across the first 2 dungeons I ever drew up. They date from the autumn of 1981 when me and my buddies started with the Moldvay-edited Basic set in 7th grade. I also have my first character!

I got to thinking that many of the rest of you are probably packrats like myself. So, how old is the oldest self-created RPG material you stil have around?

I've got a bunch of old characters from the early 80's somewhere. I got rid of most of the old stuff as my ideas of what an RPG should be has changed quite a bit over the past 20 years, but for some reason I kept those.

In storage in upstate New York I have several folders worth of 2e material - mainly maps and adventure notes - from the first game I ran back in 1989. I don't think I have anything older than that.

I think I still have a little blue notebook with some old outlandish magic items, a blue cloth three ring binder with more munchkiny artifacts and creatures from the JHS days, and a hex map with some maps from my Blackmoor-inspired first go at a game world.

Let's see - the oldest thing I have is not even mine.

I have the most up to date AD&D character sheet from a player in a campaign I DM'ed for him (solo adventures) from about 1983 or so. He was a 25/23/23 Human Fighter/Magic-user/Thief. (Del Benetar, his PC's name was.):D

The oldest thing of mine I DO have is a character sheet of Gizzle Greasyguts, half-orc fighter/cleric, that I ran back in 1987.

The oldest DM stuff I had was my campaign sourcebook, in a spiral notebook, on the campaign that I currently run, from 1988.

I still have the spiral notebook of campaign notes, all the old world maps, and dungeons from the first campaign I ever played in, which was run by my father and started in 1981. I even started to run that campaign not long before 3E was released, but we had a TPK and it ended at level 5-6.

Hey, I guess my son (almost 3), will probably be one of the first 3rd generation D&D players!

Edit: The oldest stuff I have that I created are from the first campaign I ran circa 1987.

I have a folder with my notes and ideas re a African Setting I once created - including Monsters,Magic Items, Heroes, Sites of Significance and Cities.

I also have a few bits of 'fiction' I wrote as background material for a few different worlds

and I have my notes on a homebrew game system I was working on (Skillbased, Percentage system using Stats from 1- 20) -However D20 does everything I needed from the system - now we just need to get it classless and levelless!:P

A hex worldmap for my OD&D world, which I obtained by making several photocopies the small hex grid from the GURPS manual and taping them together. The whole thing is something like 2x1 meters, and it's partial.

I could see Col_Pladoh coming to this thread and saying just "D&D". :D

I have:
- D&D Basic Rules Set (1981)
- Return to Brookmere (Endless Quest Book, TSR, 1982)
- Hârn Regional Module (Boxed Set, Columbia Games, 1984)

There is more in my attic but I'm too lazy to search. ;)
