What is the right super heroes system for my campaign?

I guess they could do the Superman thing and fly counter rotation around the world fast enough to turn back time, essentially time traveling. :}
With the ring being only limited by the imagination of the wearer, you would get something very close to unlimited wishes.
Yeah, but it's still limited to creating solid light constructs imagined by the wearer, yeah? It can't bend reality or anything, right? (honest questions, I'm not a DC fan) That doesn't seem so overpowering to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, I would say that those kinds of ultra-flexible powers is where MHR really shines. The character write-ups are more about letting the characters do what they do (whatever that is) and not precisely enumerating the exact uses and limits of each power set. People say it's also really good for teams with power disparities (i.e. pretty much every superhero team in the comics) but I haven't played with a group of heroes that were widely divergent in power level yet, myself, so I can't comment on it.

The answer to almost any question with regard to RPGs is: Run the one you like best or at least the one you like running best.

However, since I'm guessing you don't have a lot of broad experience with the various superhero RPGs out there, that's why you asked in this thread.

I have experience with V&V, Champions, TSR's Marvel Heroes, and Mutants and Masterminds. They're all good and handle different aspects of the superhero genre a little differently - each with strengths and weaknesses. But you've set yourself up for a bit more of a challenge no matter what system you use because you're focusing on a storyline with characters that have largely unbounded powers. Power rings can do virtually anything and creative players will make that challenging. I might suggest running a prelude chapter for your game in which you run some backstory event with the players running more standard superheroes with more bounded and defined powers. This gives both of you some experience in working with the system before you inject power rings into the mix.

Yeah, had planned on running them through events that lead up to BN. So this would be things I come up with, Sinestro Corps. War, and then Blackest Night.
So they won't start off having any rings of any color, just their own powers/abilities. Then, as story progresses into BN, they will earn rings based on what seems to be their emotional motivation...thankfully I know them enough to have an idea of that will be.
I am thinking of going with FASERIP, or a clone of it.
