What is this Irresistible Metamagic Feat from Kalamar all about?

Last time I checked, neither Kingdoms of Kalamer, nor Complete Warrior were Core D&D books. ;)

Complete Warrior is certainly close, but KoK is about as far removed from the Core as it gets.

IMC, that's what overdeities exist for - they go around obliterating would-be Pun-puns. :p

Southern Magician is how I get around Divine Metamagic, and is unarguable. There are other ways (Alternative Source Spell, Arcane Disciple) but they don't work very well because they come down to interpretation.

Dweomerkeeper is not allowed by most DMs who get a good look at the class - you can ignore all components and ignore SR by turning spells into supernatural abilities! Normally one needs divine ranks to pull a trick like that.

Well, they have a license for the D&D stamp, so it isn't a d20 suppliment; it's not quite as far from Core as you can get, although it is admittedly close.

LOLOL.
I remember that now: the Southern Faerunian Caster. (I don't know what book the Dweomerkeeper is in, though.)

Ok, let's take it to the max here: The Southern Dweomerkeeper/Cleric with Irresistible Spell and Divine Metamagic.
Let's see ...

She can hit you with an Irresistible Divine and/or Arcane Spell unaltered in level by metamagic level bumps, because of Divine Metamagic and Southern Caster.
Against her Irresistible Spells, you get no saving throw because they are ... Irresistible.
Against her spells, you get no Spell Resistance because her spells are also considered Supernatural Abilities and those bypass Magic Resistance.

So, ye old 7th level Southern Dweomerkeeper/Cleric comes north, hits Larloch (who is 40th level, I believe, even in 3rd edition) with a Quickened, Irresistible, Supernatural (No SR) Charm Monster. Presto! Larloch now does what she tells him to.
She then goes to Shadowdale and hits Elminster with a Quickened Irresistible Supernatural Magic Jar, takes over his body, then proceeds to hit the Seven Sisters (one by one) with Quickened Irresistible Supernatural Feebleminds.
And then she takes over Shade Enclave with her Quickened Irresistible Supernatural Dominate Person spells, and ...

Is this about right?

There is only one good answer to such a situation, assuming the DM allows this kind of thing, and assuming it is played out:

Nuke Southern Faerun from Orbit.
It's the only way to be sure. :)

This sound like an example of the inevitable power creep that has happened in every D&D edition to date.

3.5 has certainly been the best in maintaining game balance, but even it cannot withstand the power creep that always happens.

Try looking at this from a humorous perspective (humor always helps)

Your DM allows your party to have a Frenzied Berserker in your midst.
Your party kicks everyone around. Your party makes kings tremble. With that Frenzied Berserker, your party eats dragons for dinner and the tarrasque for dessert.

Along comes the Cute Female Elven Wizard.
She throws Irresistible Dominate Person on your Frenzied Berserker.
She then has your Frenzied Berserker attack your party.

I so hope, for your sake, that someone brought a Teleport spell along ...
They didn't? Well, there is always lighter fluid for quick disposal of character sheets.

The Knights of the Dinner Table should have strips involving things like this.
Just think how much fun Brian (the rules lawyer) would have had. And how much fun B.A. would have had trying to out-feat him. Meanwhile, El Ravager would have wanted his cut of the goodies, and Sara would have thought up something devastating ...
It'd make for a good read and a better laugh. :)
