What is your favorite class(es) so far? (4E)

The problem a group of mine with a Paladin encountered is, the solos and elites that weren't undead just didn't care enough about the damage (or the -2 atk, natch) for it to be meaningful. Even 17 damage...a Solo can easily suck that up and spend a few rounds DEVASTATING a striker or controller before finally looking over at the Paladin and saying "Hey...stop it."

Hospitaler. Now the solo might as well throw out all his weak attacks or aoe's without horrible riders.

Overall I like most of the classes, but the paladin has to be near the bottom. I really want to like them, and hope DP gives them a big boost, but right now they are not very workable.

Druids and Shamans do not do much for me either, partly due to my group (3 people) and partly as they do not seem to give themselves a new role or a new trick (especially shamans)

I like most other classes though, and particularly clerics as I find their blend of wisdom and strength attacks very appealing.

So, for every Paladin that wants to take a different PP, they're just SOL? ;)

Eh, it's just not a class for everyone, and this is all my opinion, so no biggie.

I'm surprised that the first two posters think Shamans are weak. Used intelligently, stalker spirit Shamen are remarkably strong.

Wow, what's with the Shaman hate? They're definitely one of my favorite classes right now. The spirit is like a mini-defender, able to take hits for the rest of the party to reduce their damage taken, and block the way. It creates a nexus of the battle--you always know something interesting will be going on around it, like temp HP flying around, damage boosts, free healing, or combat advantage. It's a very controller-ish leader, in the way you get to shape the way the battle develops. I'm really enjoying playing mine.

Other fun classes for me include the Avenger, Barbarian, Swordmage and Wizard. Not surprisingly, those are the classes I've spent a fair bit of time with--I tend to grow attached to my characters. I'd like to play a Druid and Monk in the future, since they both have design concepts that interest me.

Divine classes tend to be the least interesting to me, with the exception of the Avenger. I guess I find it hard to get into the deity-focused mindset in D&D. I also don't really care for the flavor of the Bard, although I recognize how solid they are mechanically. Lastly, I've always preferred being supernatural to mundane, so I don't really play martial classes, although I wouldn't say I dislike them.

In order:

1. Warlord
2. Warlord
3. Warlord

I think I prefer 3.5 to 4th edition but if I were to find a regular 3.5 game, I would be disappointed that I couldn't play a warlord.

What flavour of warlord is your favourite?

You can make a respectable facsimile of a warlord in 3.5 with a well-built crusader.
