Planescape and Greyhawk leading the pole is not too surprising. Eberon edging out the Realms, putting it in 4th place, and Dragon Lance in last place, are a little surprising, but voting is still early.

I voted for Al-Qadim, which had the most consistent quality of just about anything put out by TSR. Greyhawk, the Realms and Dragon Lance all had there high points, usually early, but are long past their prime. DL's massive changes over the years are probably one of the main reasons for its poor performance on this pole.

But for my "favorite D&D setting", see the sig

I voted for Eberron, myself, despite the misspelling. lol I also like Greyhawk a lot. Most of the others I see as great for stories, but not settings I like to game in.

I voted Greyhawk, given the choices.

My favorite published D&D setting is Blackmoor.
Second favorite is the Wilderlands.
Greyhawk and Arduin are tied for third.

I also like the Scarred Lands better than anything else on the poll (Greyhawk excepted).

I voted for three:

Forgotten Realms is an easy to run campaign with enough diversity to pull off just about anything. You can even do a Buffy style campaign with the Night Masks as the villains if you wanted. The scope of the setting is just phenomenal and makes for an easy pick up game because who doesn't know Baldur's Gate or Shadowdale? The biggest flaw is the meta-plot which can hinder a game, see Dragonlance.

Eberron, the new cherry on the block. I love this setting but have yet to run a game in this world. I have not DMed since the book came out but I think it is very sweet. Not so much an easy pick up and run campaign but you can do just about anything with this setting as well, especially heroic Lovecraftian themed stories, ala Pulp Cthulhu or jungle exploration etc. with little preparation. It has an emphasis on grand quest type stories as well. Drawback, not really recognizable by new players unlike the Realms.

Greyhawk is awesome. End of story. Stock D&D and all you need to run a great game. GH is the DM's best friend setting, there for you to adapt and OWN as your piece of work. Essentially a loose skeleton on which to hang a homebrew campaign, it gives you names, locations and little odds and ends but not too much. Drawback, for a campaign setting it isn't nearly fleshed out enough.
