I like the powers for martial classes, I love the saves as defense and what grew out of that (having martial powers have miss effects), and I was afraid I'd hate the skill system (I loved 3.x that way) but find I really like it's simplicity.

The biggest thing however is the simplified game prep for the GM. Easy to build monsters, encounters, give treasure. I play solo (which usually mean I run 2 characters with henchmen) and the wife GMs, and she doesn't exactly have time to built full adventures for me... or rather hasn't in the past.
Now she can, and she is enjoying that.

I skipped 2nd ed, 3rd broought me back but had problems at high level when the game is you secondary game system, so you don't have anywhere near as much time to prep. I'm really enthused about 4th. :)

With all the great things about it I think my favorite aspect of 4e, beyond it being 4e and not 3.x, is the new skills system and all the new non-combat encounter related situations that can now be done and the freedom it gives players to narrate how they perform when in complex situations.

The limited number of skills, how skill training works, etc... makes being a DM way way way much easier and better.

I realy enjoy the simplification of the adventure creation process for Dungeon Masters. So much of my time in 3E was spent making monsters, adding on templates and levels, and advancing monsters, that I didn't have enough time to devote to room descriptions, vivid monster descriptions, and just writing interesting plotlines. In 4E I will have a lot of time that I can devote to the creation of the non-combat side of the game during my limited prep time.

Hmm. Its not really easy to pinpoint one thing as my stand alone favourite. So far its a toss up between the slimming down of casters, monsters (Its *stupidly* easy to make interesting monsters now), or the larger need for the group to work together as a team to overcome things.

I'd have to say its the teamwork part though that edges up above the rest in my books.

Ease of monster creation, NPC creation, and prep time for DMing overall.

Ditto. With the info of minions, regular monsters, elite monsters and solo monsters, I can think of so many ways to build encounters. I'm looking forward to see what the "DM toolbox" has in store for making life for the DM easier.
