Brandon
Smart Hero 3/Charismatic Hero 1
Str 10, Dex 10, Con 16, Int 17, Wis 7, Cha 14.
Profession: Student
Feats: Educated, Skill Focus: Research, Skill Focus: Gaming
Man, don't even make me flesh out my skill points. I've got multiple ranks in bluff and forgery.. damn college.
~~Brandon

I'm a Fast Hero 4/ Infiltrator 3.

Or at least, that's what I am in the d20 modern ICC game on the boards.

In reality, I'm probably a fast/smart/techie. Or something like that.

I don't really fit a D&D class, I'm don't fight, I can't pick locks, I can't cast spells, I can't play music.

I can't dance, I can't talk.
the only thing about me is the way I walk.
I can't dance, I can't sing
I'm just standing here selling
everything.

Level 01. Do As I Say Not As I Do: Gain a +2 circumstance bonus to either Bluff or Intimidate for a number of rounds equal to your Parent level. Level 02. Look At These Pictures: Gain the ability to cast 'Daze' once per hour when in possession of either baby photos or embarrassing pictures from your children's first birthday party. Level 03. Don't Make Me Come In There: Instinctively know when children are 'into something'. Level 04. Look At Me When You Say That: Instinctively know when children are lying.

According to this I'm a 4th level father.
I would also add proficient in changing diapers and flinging them down the hall into the trash. A special attack maybe?

I don't know d20 Modern, so I'll stick to D&D 3E.

Human Warrior 2/Expert 2

Feats: Weapon Focus (Longspear), Skill Focus (Knowledge: Computers), Combat Reflexes

Expert class would be focused in Comp. Sci, Political Science, History, and Gaming.

Picked up the warrior levels in my local boffer LARP - I was one of the better people there, and specialized in taking on 3-4 people at once by myself, and winning, hence the combat reflexes and weapon focus. I've got a fair bit of computer knowledge IMO, so I threw in some Expert levels.

Now, if I was going fantastic, it would be:

Fighter 1/Wizard(Technomancy) 3

Replace Skill Focus with Spell Focus (Technomancy), otherwise the same.

I'd go...

Connor
Human Male age 16
Str 11 Dex 11 Con 15 Int 16 Wis 12 Cha 12

Probably Expert (Student) 2
Thats... 9 x 5 = 45 skill points, over 10 skills, max 5...

Knowledge (Math) 5
Knowledge (Computers) 5
Driving 5
Sport (Water Polo) 5
Study 5
BS, err... Bluff 5
Proffession (Student) 5 (with +2 synergy bonuses to study and bluff)
Swim 5
Craft (fine works of literature) 5
Feats: Endurance, Photographic Memory

If Connor still got annual teacher evaluations, rather than grades, his would read "Connor is such a bright child when he is interested in something, but really needs to learn how to play with others. I've never seen anyone who could get turned down by girls with such fierce efficancy. He could be such a good student, if only he applied himself."

He is big, looks 21, and knows it. And his sense of humor is much deeper than one would think.

Yup... thats me. I feel like i've bared my soul....

Expert 6
Str 10, Dex 12, Con 11, Int 15, Wis 14, Cha 12

Feats : Skill Focus (geopolitical history), Skill Focus (historical sociology), Iron Will

Skills : (stat mod not added in)
Knowledge (Geopolitical History) 11
Knowledge (Historical Sociology) 11
Diplomacy .................................. 0
etc

I'm an Outsider, baby! I'd have to look in Savage Species to figure my ECL, or maybe Deities & Demigods. Sure, I look human (and kinda like a troll), but I'm not so easily defined by normal means. I got a couple Templates laid over me, too. Oh yeah.

If we are going to play this game, we should all play by the same rules.

Incomplete rules sample to follow:

Step #2 (determine your level):

Roll a d6 + 9. This is the age you first started gaining experience points. Alternately, determine this introspectively by deciding when you first started taking life seriously. Only people who are orphaned, abused as children, refugees in a war, born into the household of a major political figure, etc. could consider this age to be below 10. Certain carefree people and slackers may want to set this age post 15.

Assume you gain 200 xp per year for each year since that point. For instance, if you started taking life seriously at 14, and you are now 29, you have base 3000 xp - good for 3rd level.

Add the following bonuses:

+300 xp for finishing high school.
+300 xp for other part time weekly long period training engaged in for longer than 2 years - ei piano lessons, riding lessons, ballet lessons, martial arts training, etc. - provided you took such lessons seriously. If you are largely self taught (for instance learned to ride growing up on a farm with horses), take only one half the normal bonus. Do not take more than three such bonuses (including high school) for any 2 year period; no one has that much time.
+300 xp for each additional 4 years of such training. If you are largely self taught, take only one half the normal bonus.
+300 xp for each advanced professional certification you have - such as CPA, master in a craft (for instance plumber, sheet metal worker), etc.
+1000 xp for each completed college degree.
+2000 xp for earning MD.
+1000 xp for basic military training or equivalent intense relatively long term full time training course.
+1000 xp for each advanced military training course you have completed (advanced infantry, airborne, sniper, demolitions, etc.)

Heroic bonuses:
+300 xp for each life threatening encounter you not only survived but triumphed in - ei trapped with no shelter in wilderness during blizzard, capasized boat in open ocean and self rescued, broke leg in desert and hiked out alone by night, attacked by mugger/rapist but overcame attacker, military engagement in which you took and returned fire, etc. Half the normal bonus if you were not acting alone.
+300 xp for each year of hazardous duty - working in ER, police officer or fire fighter, tour of duty in combat zone, test pilot, incarcerated in a jail, member of violent street gang, etc..

By this system I have about 4000 xp - good for 3rd level. None of it it is heroic, fortunately. (Though I have been through some violent and traumatic experiences, I fairly sure none of them were life threatening in a significant way.)

Step #3: Determine class

Apply your xp towards classes as appropriate to your background. If you do not qualify for a heroic xp bonus, assume you are of NPC classes (expert, commoner, ordinary, warrior). If you did not earn your heroic xp bonus prior to gaining enough xp for at least one level, assume you have at least one level of an NPC class. Just because you do have an xp bonus, does not necessarily mean that you have full PC or heroic classes. If the heroic xp only constitutes a small portion of your experience, heroic classes should also be an equivalently small portion of your total classes.

Do not take a level in a class with spell casting abilities unless you can demonstrate those abilities.

I figure I'm a 3rd level expert, or 3rd level Smart Ordinary, depending on your prefered system.
