What is YOUR level?

Hmm...after all this talk about over estimation, I feel a need to justify my stats.

Str 8
Dex 14
Con 8
Int 14
Wis 9
Cha 11
, but not one has any romantic feelings for me. Which is hell for me incidently, because there's one I really like...
... I know the feeling, trust me :(. Worse, she's my best friend...

I'm just staring at it now, but I think that makes everything 10, so I'm a 12-point character. Ouch.

According to DMG, this would be a 16-point character.
***

Incidentally, that makes me a 24-point character, assuming stats below 8 give 1 point back each.

And, like I said in my original post, I may have mis-estimated some things.

Now that's an interesting idea.

Myself, I guess I'm a 26-point character.

The truth is, though, that I probably had a 9 CHA and spent my 4th level point on raising it. That would make me a "standard" 25-point character.

Don't feel too bad, guys. 7 years ago I was in a similar situation... always "too nice"... always "just a friend"... always the guy to whom she "could talk to about anything" (but usually just to complain about her latest crummy boyfriend).

Now we're married with two kids.

Keep up the good fight. Sooner or later she'll realize who's been there for her always.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled ENBoards thread...

~~~
So, if I was a D20 character... To avoid complications, I'm going to make a D20Modern "Ordinary" character as close to myself as possible... So, no bonus feats, no talents, no action points, random hit points, no advanced classes, and I'll use the "standard" ability score package (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8).
Using Celebrim's guidelines, I've got about 6,150 XP, making me just enough for 4th level. Based on my education, occupation and hobbies, I'm going to make myself a Ordinary Smart 3/Charismatic 4.
Here we go...
Human Smart Ordinary 3/Charismatic Ordinary 1: CR 3; Medium-sized humanoid; HD 4d6-4; hp 10; Mas 8; Init +1; Spd 30 ft.; Defense 14, touch 13, flat-footed 13 (+1 Dex, +2 class, +1 leather jacket); BAB +2; Grap +2; Atk +2 melee (1d3, unarmed); Full Atk +2 melee (1d3, unarmed), or +3 ranged; FS 5 ft. by 5 ft.; Reach 5 ft.; AL Family, Friends, Good, United States; SV Fort +1, Ref +3, Will +5; AP 0; Rep +5;
Str 10, Dex 12, Con 8, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 13.
Occupation: Technician (bonus class skills: Computer Use, Craft (electronics), Knowledge (physical sciences), Wealth +3)
Skills: Bluff +2, Computer Use +11, Craft (chemical) +6, Craft (electronic) +8, Craft (mechanical) +6, Craft (visual art) +6, Diplomacy +3, Disguise +2, Disable Device +6, Investigate +6, Knowledge (earth & life sciences) +6, Knowledge (physical sciences) +9, Knowledge (technology) +6, Perform (act) +4, Perform (sing) +2, Perform (wind instrument) +2, Profession (accelerator operator) +10, Read/Write English, Read/Write German, Read/Write Technobabble, Repair +11, Research +7, Sense Motive +8, Speak English, Speak German, Speak Technobabble.
Feats: Attentive, Creative, Gearhead, Simple Weapons Proficiency.
Talents: None.
Wealth Bonus: +6
Possessions: Leather jacket, casual clothing, Saturn SW2 (economy wagon), small house.
That more or less looks about right... If anything, some of the skills might be a little high compared to my reality. Perhaps Smart 2/Charismatic 1 might fit a me little better. But hey, I only recently got that fourth level, eh? ;)
I don't remember where I read the 1E Loser class. I think it was in a Best of the Dragon issue. Anyway, the Loser rolls 1d2 hit points per level; and, the hit points are not cumulative. Naturally, the D&D hit point system presents the biggest problem in modeling modern characters, as most of us don't become exponentially harder to kill as we soak up experience surviving various scrapes. Most of us don't even get better at our jobs because we gain experience; we just become more jaded and guarded, rather than actually becoming better at teaching or pouring cement or whatever.
On this basis, given my vast amounts of experience and little or nothing to show for it, I maintain that the class/level I most closely approximate would be a 9th level Loser.
Hey, there's always hope. Me, I used to set up dates* for this gal I had the hots for -- figured I didn't stand a chance and we were too good of friends.
Now, we're going on 8 years of marriage and our second little one.
*Maybe I should revise my stats to a 4 WIS.
Well using Celebrim's system:
0 Warrior / 0 Expert
Feats:
Lightning Reflexes
Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Boken / Katana
Str: 12 (I'm decently strong)
Dex: 8 ( I won't lie. I'm clumsy)
Con: 10 (average
Int: 17 (I haven't had an IQ, so this just a guess)
Wis: 14 (maybe off a little)
Cha: 7 (I'm a teenage male RPGer. Do you know what that means?! Cries:( )
I'm a teenage male RPGer. Do you know what that means?!
That you probably overestimated your wisdom a tad. ;)
Seriously though, what you look like from stats like that is a rather smart and very real person. As a character, NPC or PC, you'd be perfectly welcome in my game world and as a person you'd be perfectly welcome in my life because I happen to like geeks, and especially unpretentious ones.
Geek [Trait]
You are a nerd.
Prerequisites: Int 12+, Chr not higher than 12.
Benefit: Other people may add thier intelligence modifier to thier effective charisma with respect to you. Over time, this results in you gaining the ability to judge people by thier substance, and not thier appearance.
Special: You can take this Trait without spending a feat to do so.
