What is your local game store situation?

In many of the discussions about Free RPG Day I was reminded that a large number of people don't have game stores in their local area. I'm curious what ENWorlds membership's situation tends to be.

Do you have an local game store in your area? If so, do you visit it regularly? If you don't have one, did you have one but it closed recently?

Edit: Several have asked what is considered local? Local is within whatever distance you think is reasonable to travel to visit any gaming store. For me, I consider local within 30-40 miles, but I'm sure it varies for a lot of reasons (for example, areas where you need to travel long distances for most stores).

There was a very good one in my area, but it got sold and the new owners sell things for *much* more than I can get them for in Melbourne. It is cheaper to go down to Melbourne by train ($20), buy one $50 book (like Expedition to the Demonweb Pits) and come back rather than spend $75 in the LGS.

Given I generally spend about $200 a month on games...

I have one, but I don't visit very often....the selection is good, but prices are high, sales are rare and it's always full of kids playing pokemon on the weekends.

There are two decent ones in the area but they really aren't very friendly to RPG players. One is a hobby place that really caters to the modeling/gaming/minitaure trifecta, whilst the other actually refuses to let RPG people play there because they want the tables open for CCG players.

Given those options, I usually rely on my good ol' internet connection to purchase gaming materials.

I think we still have two in the area (30 minutes to get there), but I doubt that they'd have ever heard about Free RPG day (and since that day was also my birthday, I didn't feel like going to any stores, anyway, so I didn't ask).

Their use to be one 1hour away but it closed like 3 yrs ago

There are several within probably 30 miles, but none of them offer any sort of discount, or ever have a sale. When you factor in gas and tax, things are almost twice as much there as getting them new online from Amazon.com or FRPGames or Stiggybaby would be.

Wow, you can't get much more out of the closet than that!

There are two LGSes nearby, plus the various bookstores. I only visit one often, they have better stock, and the owners are friendlier.
