Wow, I don't remember ever having a party without at least one person good at appraisal.

Anyway, here's my insignificant house rule:

You can use Strength for intimidate checks, but only if you are attempting to assist another character's intimidate check. (You are the rippling pile of muscle behind the guy making subtle threats)

Here's my second-most-insignificant house rule:

Boots of Striding and Springing are 10,000 gp.

If your character is gay, you are immune to any mind-influencing effects from Nymphs or similar creatures. I didnt make it up, the other DM did, and it has become accpeted in the group.

Players can choose to re-roll a result of a 1 or a 2 on a hit point dice, but the second result is binding, even if it is lower.

I changed the disabled, dying, and dead thresholds to be, respectively, 0 to -(Con mod), < -(Con mod) to > Constitution, Constitution. So someone with a Con of 17 is disabled at 0 to -3, dying from -4 to -16, and dead at -17. I stole this from Arcana Unearthed.

No, it's not a minor change, but seeing as I have only four house rules, it is the least significant change.

I highly recommend this rule, BTW. It requires, at most, one extra entry in a stat block, and it goes a long way toward PC survival. It's worked out very well for us.

I use it and it does work well. It is signicant to me though YMMV

Grrrr. That reminds me of a house rule I had for a while. I got tired of mundane modern American names, easily recognizable Biblical names, and easily recognizable ethnic names in my game, so I outlawed them. (One time, a player called a character "Juan"; I spelled it "Waun" in the campaign record. When he pointed out how it was supposedly spelled, I explained to him that there was no Spanish in my game world and that's how you would spell it. )

IMC elves are average 5'6"... I didn't even consier this a 'rule' though.
