In 93, I dj'd a wedding reception at a local conference center. The Razorbacks were in the final four that day, and without asking the bridal party, the groom and his friends wheeled in a big screen tv to watch it. Needless to say, the bride's family was furious, because they'd paid a lot of money for the reception, the buffet, and my friend and myself to play music, and the groom's family told us to not play anything so they could hear the game.

Finally, the bride comes over and asks us to play the song for the bride and groom spotlight dance. They turned the tv sound down, but during the whole dance, he kept maneuvering her so he could see over her shoulder. She suddenly hauled off and slapped him across the face and stormed out. Her dad threw 400 dollars at me and my friend and told us to help ourselves to the buffet then go home.

I wonder if they're still married.

Well I just got my refunds for my two tickets back yesterday. :(
Had an unexpected work obligation for my wife come up and we can't go this year.

Other than that I would just about skip anything to go.
I will really miss working the EN Booth cause it is pretty cool to meet everyone.

To specify my "other": There's just not very much happening in the industry today that excites me. I'd rather try to make it to a smaller con with less focus on the "new" stuff.

Loved Dragon Con when I lived in Atlanta. But it is much... more than a gaming, or even a fandom convention. Not too many cons boast half-naked borderline porn actresses in the dealers room.

Yes, dammit, and the fanboys gathered around them made it difficult to get to Gil Gerard's table. How very irritating! At least I got Lou Ferrigno to autograph my Hulk Heroclix tho.

I've always wanted to go, but logistics have always gotten in the way. Either I didn't have money, or I have too much responsibility to take the time off.

One day I may swing Origins, since Ohio is a little closer.

My windscreen wipers are not that strong. They can manage a light drizzle, or even heavy rain. But complete immersion in the ocean is beyond them. Thus, I cannot go to GenCon. The damn ocean's in the way.

I'm not going due to:

a) I have two small children
b) who cost a lot; and
c) I therefore really can't justify spending $1,000+ to go.

However, once the kids are a few years older...
