What languages do you speak?

Padova, northeastern Italy.
2.) What is the primary language in your area? (...and is it a notably different dialect than its original?)
Italian. There's a dialect, but noone I know uses it in normal conversation.
3.) What languages do you speak? (...and dialect if appropriate, please)
Italian and English
4.) At what level of competency? (...if other than your primary language.)
I am very good with English grammar, but I should train more on pronounce and listening. I can carry on a conversation easily, unless the other person is speaking very fast or in some obscure dialect.
5.) What language do you use at the gaming table? (...or in online games?)
Italian.
6.) In what language are the gaming materials you use? (...and is it the language you prefer to use for gaming?)
We prefer books in Italian, but will buy books in English if Italian books are not available.
7.) How well serviced is the area in which you live in regard to gaming materials? (Miles/Kilometers to the nearest game store, what materials do they carry, etc.)
About four, five kilometers to the nearest game store. It isn't much serviced, though. It usually carries only major releases from WotC, and only a few copies.

Brussels, Belgium

French and Dutch are both spoken in Brussels, but I am a french-speaker.

4.) At what level of competency? (...if other than your primary language.)
French - mother tongue
English and Italian - I just finished studies as a translator from these languages into French, so I suppose very good!
Dutch - Average knowledge (6 years in high school)
Spanish - Basic knowledge (2 years in High school)
Portuguese - Basic knowledge (1 years in evening classes)

French (but I'd like to have a try in English, just have to find a group!)

Nearly always English, except for French games (such as Agone which is a French game that is now translated into English), because translations 1) are disappointingly poorly written, 2) contains some mistakes that can sometimes change a rule, 3) take a longer time to be released, and 4) cost more.

There are, to my knowledge, thwo stores in Brussels carrying quite a lot of "official" materials, but not much 3rd party for D20. Books are also sold for a higher price than the one written in USD on the back (example: I bought the Wheel of Time RPG for 46 euros whereas it should cost 39.95 USD [which is now 39,5 euros, but maybe 42 at the time I bought it])

1. I live in the town of Nakskov, in Denmark

2. Danish, sligthly more flat than the way the speak in Copenhagen:)

3 and 4. Danish. English, pretty much fluently. I speak and read German fairly well, but I'm not so good at writing it.

5. Danish

6. English, there are no translations of any 3e material. It would be nice if at least the core books were in Danish, since a few of the guys I play with, aren't very good at English.

7. The nearest gaming store is in about 160 kms away, but they have a fast and friendly mail order service. They carry pretty much all d20 material, and a heap of other stuff.

1.) Where do you live?

Germany, city of Kaiserslautern

2.) What is the primary language in your area? (...and is it a notably different dialect than its original?)

German and yes, the regional dialect is distinct (but I don't speak it)

3.) What languages do you speak?

4.) At what level of competency

German as native language, English pretty fluently and a few bits of French and Latin I picked up at school

5.) What language do you use at the gaming table? (...or in online games?)

German, with most game mechanical terms in English

6.) In what language are the gaming materials you use? (...and is it the language you prefer to use for gaming?)

Mostly English, as I prefer the original material over translations and I currently play no RPG originating in Germany.

7.) How well serviced is the area in which you live in regard to gaming materials? (Miles/Kilometers to the nearest game store, what materials do they carry, etc.)

We have a game store in town that carriess most of the usual stuff and can get unusual material on request (which might take a while). New D&D releases appear pretty late, but this seems to be a common problem in Europe from what I hear.

It's ok here. Two "real" gaming stores about 30-40 miles away, national chain bookstores closer.

Dutch

Dutch and English
They tried to teach me French and German, they didn't succeed.

1.) Where do you live?

Sweden, Gothenburg

2.) What is the primary language in your area?

Swedish.

3.) What languages do you speak?

Swedish, Spanish, English.
I also understand Norwegian and Danish (at least in writing ;)).

4.) At what level of competency? (...if other than your primary language.)

Both Spanish and English fairly good.
Although I read English better than Spanish, and have a wider vocabulary, I speak Spanish better.

5.) What language do you use at the gaming table?

When gaming we usually do it in gamer's swedish, swedish with a heavy borrowing from english.

Online it would be English, but I have hardly done that.

6.) In what language are the gaming materials you use? (...and is it the language you prefer to use for gaming?)

English. There is some material in Swedish (no 3E), but nothing I really use.
I also have a small collection of Spanish gaming stuff, but mostly for fun.

After reading games in english for twentytwo years it is what feels most natural.

I think you'll find that most people on these boards are fluent in English, and use material in English.
Those who prefer their games in other languages communicate in other places.

7.) How well serviced is the area in which you live in regard to gaming materials? (Miles/Kilometers to the nearest game store, what materials do they carry, etc.)

The closest store that carries gaming stuff is a couple of blocks away. They carry all WotC stuff, a lot of d20, and a good deal other stuff.

There are a few other stores in town, as well.

1.) Where do you live?
Poland, Warsaw

2.) What is the primary language in your area?
Polish

3.) What languages do you speak?
Polish, English, a bit German & Russian

5.) What language do you use at the gaming table?
Mostly Polish, although with kind of gamer slang (English words with Polish endings :)

6.) In what language are the gaming materials you use?
Mostly English, even when there are Polish translations

7.) How well serviced is the area in which you live in regard to gaming materials?
There are a few gaming shops in Warsaw, but they sell little other material than WotC's or White Wolf's

Trondheim, Norway. Third largest city in Norway (150.000). Appr. as far north as Reykjavik (Hi Mastermind :))

2.) What is the primary language in your area? (...and is it a notably different dialect than its original?)
Norwegian. Two official dialects (bokmål and nynorsk). The dialect in my area ("trøndersk") is sort of in-between these, but most use bokmål when writing. In addition there are three sami languages that are official in Norway, a very small group speak one of these in my area (sørsamisk).

3.) What languages do you speak? (...and dialect if appropriate, please)
4.) At what level of competency? (...if other than your primary language.)

Norwegian - native.
English - fluent.
German - learned at school, forgotten most of it.
Italian, french, dutch etc - I know a few words and sentences in most western european languages, but nothing near conversation level.

5.) What language do you use at the gaming table? (...or in online games?)

Norwenglish. Norwegian with english terms intermingled. In my campaign we use english (at the table) as the common trade-language ("Common").

6.) In what language are the gaming materials you use? (...and is it the language you prefer to use for gaming?)

English, and we are happy with that.

7.) How well serviced is the area in which you live in regard to gaming materials? (Miles/Kilometers to the nearest game store, what materials do they carry, etc.)

Two shops in town, one pretty well stocked with comics and RPG's (WoTC, D20, other RPGs), the other stuffed with GW. Apart from the troubles with WoTC-Europe I'm pretty satisfied. Have been supplementing with amazon.co.uk lately.
