Thanks Limper and Silverthrone, you've just made me appreiciate my group and friends more. Unfortunately, you've also reinforced my thinking that the world probably wouldnt be too hurt if a few nukes went off.

Woah. That was one serious discussion. And the best bit is, people still aren't really listening to each other. Sometimes I'm glad I'm to apathetic to get really upset about much. But sometimes I wish I could, so I could participate in one of these discussions.
the one thing that has come out of this is that Limper (you all remember him, he started the thread!) has got rid of his "Lump". Presumably this means he will be getting more XP now, since he has less people to share it with.
And on the same note, in the last D&D campaigns I played in, we didn't use XP at all. The DM decided when everyone levelled up, based on attendance, good playing, achieving stuff and not dying in the meantime. The better characters (as judged by him, since it's his campaign) were not rewarded by bonus XP, but by a greater interaction with the world, more interesting magic items and generally the sort of things they enjoyed. Other players that gamed for other reasons didn't get the same stuff, and didn't seem to mind.
