D&D 5E What monster are you hoping to see in the 5B update?

Boarstorm

First Post
The Basic Rules are supposed to be updated with all kinds of stuff to tide us over and enable us to run campaigns until the other Core books hit shelves. Part of that will be a bestiary. So... what monster are you hoping makes the cut?

Personally, I'm hoping for a wide range of monsters to tide us over until the MM drops.

But I guess if I had to pick one (which is kind-of the point of this thread), I'd pick the drider.

What are you guys hoping to see?

Chromatic dragons!

Drow!

Beholders!

Mind flayers!

Goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears!

Orcs!

Elementals!

Dire wolves!

Dire bears!

Gelatinous cubes!

...Let me think on this some more.

EDIT: Oh, wait, I was only supposed to pick one? Okay, chromatic dragons!

It may be a cop out but I'm hoping to see at least some monster/NPC creation rules, at least basics. If I HAVE to choose a monster... hmm.... Mind Flayer. Definitely Mind Flayer. This is assuming some sort of dragons will be in there already (this IS called Dungeons and Dragons after all)

We should at least be guaranteed one shade of dragon, if the HotDQ spoilers are correct. They said they'd have all the monsters you'd need to run them in the Basic PDF, didn't they?

All the monsters in Age of Worms so that I have an easy time to convert it. :)

I was surprised to see the grick in the starter set. I had converted it completely differently.

I think that many of the iconic monsters should be there (orcs, goblins, dragons, trolls, ogres, oozes, skeletons, zombies, kobolds, stirges, wights, giant centipede). Maybe even a rust monster for the evil DMs. :hmm: And it's probably ok to start out with the lower level versions of these since there is currently not a lot of product out yet. I don't see a real need for typically non-combative creatures like normal animals, unicorns, peasants, etc.

Edit: Oh yeah, and Giants Rats.

I'd like to see a legendary creature (or template), mostly so we can see if their good ideas shine through in implementation.

If we need to choose a specific monster, I'd go with giant rats, actually. Not because I need ROUSs, but because I want to see how close they are to the playtest version.

Cheers!

Picking modrons would be ridiculous, and I personally scoff at any who do for being detestable people who play the wrong game.

modrons

Thaumaturge.
