What monster killed your first PC?

My first character death was the first time I ever played D&D. It was Advanced 2e, and I was playing an Elven Wizard named Trent. The poor fellow only hade two hp at first level. He ended up dying at the hands of a spear-chucking goblin. Died first session.

Smedley Untouched, 6th level Human Ranger, 1E, died from a flame vampire after a long, long run of emerging from combats without a scratch.

My first ever character death... Traveler, last roll before starting the game. Result: Your character dies. The first day of RPing. Almost never played again.

My first real D&D character was a dwarf named Gerard, who died when the carrion crawler that lived under the fallen doors out front of Miramere (Bargle's castle/ruin) paralyzed and then ate him. It was Basic D&D at its finest.

My first experience of death in D&D was, however, the multiple means of Alaric the fighter dying in Dungeon of Dread, the Endless Quest book. That book was my introduction to D&D.

Cheers,
Cam

A rat.

In the first combat of my first game, within a half hour of rolling him up. Can't believe I stuck around for another 25 years after that!

Aghhhh....Baldolain was my favoritist PC. An escaped gladiator who used wrist razors. A major butt kicker, and then came the Slave Lords. A failed save on a Hold Person spell, and good bye Baldolain.

A bartender.

Although I had played several times before, my first taste of PC death came at the hands of the bartender in I6, Ravenloft. Up until that point, the concept of an "NPC", as opposed to a "monster", was unheard of to me.
