What monsters should be in a sequel to Tome of Horrors?

Have these been mentioned, or already converted:

Elemental Lords (perhaps now irrelevant)
Nosferatu (from the GAZ1, I beleive)

I seem to remember a mega monster presented in the Masters set, I think, that was HUGE; 100+ HP. Some big worm, IIRC. Any ideas as to what that might be?

More dinosaurs
Prehistoric mammals
Argus (from Spelljammer)

And you can't forget more original monsters. All of the originals in ToH were excellent.

Demiurge out.

Awwww, sucks. You're just sayn' that because there is a monster in there called the Demiurge. ;)

All silliness aside, thanks for the compliment on the originals. I hope they give your players many hours of fear and loathing. :D

Here we go ... it was Alzirius.

tabaxi, amphisbaena

The Tabaxi and the Amphisbaena snake are in the Tome of Horrors. :)

I lobbied to give the Tabaxi a writeup for use as a PC race, but it didn't happen. lol

PC stats for the tabaxi can easily be "reverse engineered" for a PC, though. They would probably be around ECL 2 or 3, given their high Str and Dex scores, pounce, and rake special attacks.

*nudges Erica*

Make my list happen... :D

But there are so many OD&D creatures that haven't seen print yet.

OH!! I know one that MUST be in a book!

KERCPA! They were in a Dragon article, and then a Monstrous Compendium Annual (#4 I think). The little squirrel people were awesome! One of my player's had one as a PC until 3E came. If we had "official" stats for them again, we might use him again!

gez, the galltrit, aleax, and agathion are also on the CC. :) and the larva, i beleive, is in the creature crypt.

I forgot them, I'll edit my post :)

The larva in the crypt ? Where had it been published ? They're not in a MM nor in the MC of Faerûn, nor in the BoVD... The closest I see would be the Grey Waste of Hades Petitioner in the MotP, who are indeed called larvae; but I don't like the petitioner template very much -- I'd prefer larvae to be 1/2 HD outsiders, so that they may later evolve to 1 full HD manes or nupperibo, then lemure or dretch, etc.

After all, if there was a cambion creature in the ToH despite the half-fiend template in the SRD, they could be a larva creature in Return to the Tome of Horrors ;) . Beside, petitioners are not OGC... And, although I'd very like to have the MotP mechanics enter the SRD, I always heard about Deities & Demigods and the ELH.

Edit: Heh, I added all remaining celestials (well, no eladrins, I find them quite boring, they all looks the same). We definitely need to have the missing celestials somewhere, and it's better not to spread them among thirty books.

As for the larva, nope, it's not in the crypt -- it's referenced there, but actually it ain't there. 404 errors if you follow the link, and the crypt directory is indeed empty of any larva file.

I'd like to see a couple of things:

1. Fey. I like all kinds of Fey, and they seem under-represented in D&D. Things like True Fae (e.g. Sidhe), Bane Sidhe, Leprechauns, and animal spirits. Give me a reason to use cold iron weapons again.

2. A completely different type of vampire. I'm a fan of Anne Rice leeches, and the WoD ones. Obviously they are off limits, but changing the D&D paradigm towards something a little more subtle would be fun. I especially hate the gaseous form garbage, it makes killing a vampire very tedious and anticlimactic. Vampires have roots in romantic Victorian era stuff, let's put some romance in D&D vamps.

3. A new shapeshifter. Dopplegangers are cool, but they have a pretty specific niche. Maybe gimme something that can change into objects, but has some drawback, like inability to change color. It's your book, you fill in the rest!

well, the larva never recieved a full writeup anywhere, but it got a one-paragraph description in the MotP. scott put it in the crypt after that, although i never figured it should have been taken off the CC. as to what happened to the stats... it's probably just a dead link that was never fixed. i'll see if i can do something about that, but don't get your hopes up...
