What percentage of your time are you DMing?

I thought the tables would be upside-down. I wonder if more-time-DM's frequent Enworld than general players. It seems like players do mostly just that, but it would be interesting to see the big numbers :)

I'm a back-up DM for my group, for times when our regular DM can't make it to the session. I don't particularly like DM-ing, and always fuss and worry about the adventure and the campaign, and am usually convinced I suck as a DM. My players tell me I do OK, though. I suppose it's just that I'm 2e-school of DM, and I used to try to hold all the strings, but now I'm getting 3e-ised and learning to go with the flow :)

Our regular DM, OTOH, is the kind that loves DMing, but isn't really thrilled with playing.

It swings back and forth. I will GM for nearly a year, never being a player, and then do the opposite as we trade off DM duties. Occasionally in the midst of that we may run a one shot or small campaign so the other can take a break, which we are about to do in the next few weeks. OVerall, however I think that I am DM 60+% of my over all gaming.

I'm retarded (though that comes as no surprise to some of you). I somehow read the poll as "What percentage of your time are you playing?" vice "What percentage of your time are you DMing?"

So I voted 1-20%. :heh:

I play maybe 10% of the time and DM the other 90%. Sorry for screwing up your poll results.

Overall it's about 50%, but played more when I was younger. In recent history, I'm almost exclusively DMing, which as skewed the result somewhat.

I don't like the ranges because technically, it's at about 99.3% DMing for me (in terms of hours DMed vs hours played) but the range of 81-99 doesn't do it for me. So, I haven't voted but it would be the high end of that range.

We have 5 concurrent campaigns running right now - we play an adventure in one game, and switch to another. There are 4 GMs (one runs two games, and they are set in the same world). Keeps GM burnout from a happening with each person getting time to play. :)
