D&D 4E What Publishing Opportunities Are There in 4E?

Hello Everyone,

I have not been following the 4E hype as closely as I perhaps should so I need some help here understanding what's being planned.
What opportunities will different people and publishers have to contribute to 4E? Is there an "OGL" for 4E or anything like it planned?

This is not for myself, but more looking at what interesting publications might come out that will not be from WotC. While WotC produces lots of good stuff, variation can be the spice required sometimes.

Best Regards

The OGL will not carry over to 4E. Instead WotC will have the Game System License. The GSL hasn't been made public yet so it's not yet known what the publishing opportunities for 4E will be, but WotC have indicated it will not be an open source style license in the way that the OGL is.

I think the idea of the new System License is that they want people releasing splats and monsters and especially adventures, but not stuff like Arcana Evolved where you can play without the PHB, but we don't really know yet.

Until Wizards has the GSL (the new Game License) ready to distribute, the publishers are kind of in a holding pattern. Necromancers Games has some bold plans, but Clark's gambling a bit on being able to produce what he's got in mind, and truth is, if he's able, he'll probably reap some decent rewards from it, too. :)
