What race can you not bring yourself to play?

Gnomes, I dont care for their race at all (I've been slowly removing them from my homebrew, being replaced with Goblins)
Halflings, I just cant see myself playing them.
Half-Orc, Are Orc women realy so unattractive that there are all these half breeds floating around? Besides I'd rather play a Warcraft Orc.
Half-Elf, juat a bad race IMC (none of the benefits of being a Human or an elf)

I am pretty much an exclusive Human player, I cant remember the last time I played something else.

I prefer Elves, Half-Elves and Halflings. Gnomes and Dwarves just elicit a meh from me. Humans as well, although I play one in-game, and IIRL. Half-orcs, though, NEVER! Whoever said above "I'm here to kill monsters, not play them"? I second him.

You will never, ever see me playing an elf PC. I absolutely loathe that particular race for two main reasons...

1. I've read far too many fantasy novels and RPG suppliments where elves are portrayed as being perfect in every way and the best at everything they do. My annoyance with elves began when I read The Lord of the Rings and had to hear over and over again how wise and fair the elves are, and my annoyance blossomed to outright loathing when I read the 2e suppliment The Complete Book of Elves. I have yet to read any fantasy novel where the elves didn't annoy me at least a little.

2. Elf fanboys tend to be a lot more vocal and obnoxious than fanboys of other races. Thankfully, elf fanboys aren't too common on ENWorld, but the official WotC forums are crawling with them (or at least they were last time I checked there).

Forrester's elf rant summed up perfectly why elves suck. Unfortunately, AFAIK it does not exist anywhere on the internet anymore (it used to be on this forum before the old posts were deleted), or I'd post a link.

I'm not a big fan of Gnomes. I don't know why, I don't really have anything against them, but they just strike me as an unnecessary race. There are already halflings and dwarves, why do we need something that (to me) is basically a cross of the two? And try as I'd like, I don't think I'd be able to take a gnome PC of mine seriously. I don't care to run them as NPCs, as I end up thinking of them in silly terms, and I'm sure I'd do the same as a PC.

When you get to Baldur's Gate II, it is priority one that you add Jan Jansen to your party. Trust me on this.

hmmmm....I think I could probably play just about any race if I were in the right mood or the inspiration hit me. I think I would have the toughest time with elves, though. The stereotype is of the haughty elf is too strong in my group right now that even if I came up with a cool concept that wasn't the stereotype the others would still give me grief over it.

Half-orc

Also tend to avoid half-elves and halflings (bit of a pattern there ;) )

Don't have any problems playing Dwarves, Elves, or Gnomes though, but still tend towards humans.

I HATE gnomes.

I never played gnomes.

When I am a DM and a player comes with a gnome PC it ruins the game for me.

Two days ago I got Castles & Crusades. At first I thought it is an excellent game... but then I noticed they have included gnomes in the races section. :(

Of the core races, there are two:

1) Gnomes - I simply cannot "connect" with them in any way as they are presented in the rules. I do not "get" what they are all about. I do not know why, it just is. Unfortunate but true.

2) Half-Orcs - I consider this to be a poorly constructed race in terms of game mechanics (in any version of the game). I also do not lke how they are presented in terms of background.

Outside of the core races, there are many I would not play but I am glad that they exist. They can serve as inspirations of players (including myself) and as NPCs for campaigns.
