Mainly these days in the living room.

In the past, we used the dining room. Which is really a kitchen/ diner. The players sat at the table, I stood at the kitchen counter and secretly rolled dice (Best. DM. Screen. Ever.).

How is Basement not one of the choices? Nearly 100% of all D&D games I've ever played have been in a basement, whether it was nicely finished and furnished, a dedicated game room in its own right, or 4 concrete walls and a 3x3 card table. I have to hazard a guess that I'm not the only person that plays or has played D&D in a basement.
Yup. It's our preferred location, too. We tend to have pretty large game groups (currently 9 players), so it's difficult to find sufficient space anywhere else.

I do my face to face gaming in my firend's living room

I do my online gaming at:

1. My desk, which is not represented in the poll because it is located at the landing at the top of my stairs, in a very small space. I mean seriously, doesn't everyone have their desk crammed there?

2. At 4-5 computers a week spread among my universities and high schools. I work part time a lot of places, so I post to games a lot of places.

You think basement would be the first choice. We play in my dining room, my friend's basement, and in the conference room at work (after hours, of course!)

I too was surprised that basement wasn't listed.

But I grew up in California, and it never would have occurred to me to list basement when I lived there. I think there are 3 basements in California. :)

Needless to say, I play in the basement. In fact, many houses were rejected during our search to buy because of inadequate game space.

PS

Living room at my place.

Either the living room or basement (or Daarkon as we've dubbed it) at my buddy's house, but since there was no choice for basement (shocking!), I chose "laundry room" since it doubles as that. . . :o
