Why do the number of voters not match up with the number of votes in the 4e, 3.x and Pathfinder "sections"?
The poll allows for anonymous votes.

After reading you your post here I did a quick count of some of the other options. There were two votes tallied for nWoD, but only Wombat was listed as voting for that option. Now there no way that somebody like Wombat would clear his cookies just to cheat in this dinky little poll. Really, really not his style.

So I surmised that it must be possible to vote anonymously. Went to a machine I don't usually log in from and tried an anonymous vote for nWoD. Sure enough, the poll took it, so if you check now you'll see there's three.

I must say I'm a little disapointed.

Don't be. It will be possible to count the registered voters and present that result as well as the poll winds down.

As of now, if we count only the registered voters' votes, D&D4e has 40%, D&D3e has 36%, Pathfinder has 5%, Other has 4% (barring any miscounts by me).

Seems to match up sort of the same as if we also account for the anonymous votes.

What the heck is Cat and why is it on the list instead of CoC?

(tongue in cheek, I know you couldn't hope to cover all games, but seriously... what is Cat? )
I always include a wisearse option when I make a poll. This time I included two.

Cat is a little mini-game published by John Wick years ago. Everyone plays a cat. It's actually a fun game if you're drunk enough. ;)

Yeah, but this wasn't the behavior I expected from a public poll.

In less effort then it takes to count all those names I can write a little scraper script in Python or Ruby that'll do the same kind of recount you just did. Maybe I'll do that after a week.

Still, it's the principle of the thing... :.-(

you don't have to be logged in to vote.

Yeah, I thought you couldn't do that with this kind of poll, but as Samuel pointed out, we can just count the registered, so it still kinda works :p

always been that way here on ENWurld. if you do a quick scan in meta about polls you'll see why.

Probably a toss-up between HARP and Street Fighter, for the moment. I'm running an epic Street Fighter campaign right now, and when that finishes up HARP will easily take the lead.
