What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

We often lament that some show we loved got concelled to early. But what television show went on too long? What show, in your opinion, should have ended after a single season?

The obvious low hanging fruit is Heroes. It was really great (until that "final battle." But after S1, it went downhill fast.

I would also say true Detective. The first season wasn't the only "good" season (both S3 and S4 were good) but that first season was so phenomenal they should have just stopped there.

What do you think? What television/streaming show should have gone out on a high note after S1?

I just saw Sexy Beast which was a prequel series to the excellent contemporary noir film from 2001. Well casted, and mostly well written, and leads perfectly into the film. Yet, they decided that it needed another season so they kit bashed the final episode so they could keep it going. Totally unnecessary.

Witchblade.

The first season was some great TV.
The second season had two issues:
1) It is very clear that the writers were not expecting a second season. While they did have some interesting ideas in the second, they had not be sufficiently worked and edited into a good story.
2) It is also pretty clear that the lead actor's alcoholism was impacting production in Season 2. They should have stopped for the star to get treatment.

I can see why you might say that, but I disagree. The 4th season was pointless, but the first 3 seasons together make a really great cyberpunk narrative.
I think it was best with just the first 2 seasons. While neither the 3rd nor 4th seasons are really pointless, I think they kind of drag down the interesting narrative that had been going on.

3rd season seemed like an overreaction to the frustration of the puzzlebox nature of season 2. It went from a compelling story to a cyberpunk James Bond flick. Lost me completely.

I thought it felt like a natural outgrowth of the story being told. That said, I can also see the appeal of leaving the real world unexplored.

Not at all to me. As a good friend once put it, "seems to have gone from Bruce Springsteen to Bob Seger"
