D&D 5E What solution for blind character ?

Some brainstorming ideas...

You could let him blow a Feat on 3e's old Silent Spell metamagic feat:

Silent Spell (Metamagic)

You can cast your spells without making any sound.

Benefit: A silent spell can be cast with no verbal components. Spells without verbal components are not affected.

Level Increase: +1 (a silent spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell's actual level.)
This has the unfortunate effect of negating all his 1st-level spell slots unless he has spells with no Verbal components.

There's also the Metamagic Rod:

Metamagic Rod, Silent
Aura strong (no school); CL 17th; Weight 5 lbs.

Price varies by specific type:

Lesser silent metamagic rod 3,000 gp
Silent metamagic rod 11,000 gp
Greater silent metamagic rod 24,500 gp

The wielder can cast up to three spells per day without verbal components as though using the Silent Spell feat.

Lesser and Greater Metamagic rods: Normal metamagic rods can be used with spells of 6th level or lower. Lesser rods can be used with spells of 3rd level or lower, while greater rods can be used with spells of 9th level or lower.

I think the lack of a tongue is the bigger problem. I'm not sure how you could overcome not being able to say the verbal components for spells other than multiclassing to sorcerer and taking the Subtle Spell option.

OH! Wait! I think I just thought of something! Multiclass to warlock, then take Pact of the Chain and Voice of the Chain Master! Then you'll be able to speak using your familiar's mouth and see using its eyes. Hmm, except find familiar has a verbal component... Maybe you could learn alter self, use it to turn yourself into a humanoid with working eyes and tongue? Argh, but that also has a verbal component...

No, I think the best course of action is to play as a different character for the time being and go on a mini-quest to seek help from someone who can cast regenerate, or to locate a magic item with similar abilities. Sorry, this doesn't seem like it was very fun for you.

As always, The Simpsons has the answer.

"Lisa conducts further research about Jebediah Springfield, and finds out that he was actually a pirate named Hans Sprungfeld who, having lost his tongue to a Turk in a groghouse fight, had replaced it with a prosthetic silver tongue."

After some brief Google-fu, turns out prosthetic tongues are a real thing:

"Dentistry offered surprisingly early prosthetic solutions to problems of speech and swallow. In 1776, Verdial made an appliance of Spanish leather, which was lined with sponge intended to seal the edges of the appliance to the teeth. A uvula made of sponge was attached to the appliance with silver wire." [Aramany M. A history of prosthetic management of cleft palate: Pare′ to Suersen. Cleft Palate J. 1971;8:415-430.]

ALSO...

There was a 4e Paragon class for non-Artificers called the Self-Forged that slowly turned you into a Warforged "cyborg" by replacing your body parts with mechanical ones, eventually gaining some of the race's abilities and a sassy Battlefist.

I'd totally go for something like that.

"My flesh is weak, I must make it... stronger."

D&D is a game where a story is told. Your DM went dark. If the DM doesn't have a plan to bring some light back, you need to ask if he is the right person to write the other part of the stories.

Thank all for your answers and sorry for my late answer.

I have speak with my DM and the solution was multiclassing into Bard class, because bard can cast with music. My character have learn to play guitar ^^!

I will negociate for the 3th power of Bard archetic of Valor the feat Alert instead of weapon and armor use. I was warrior 1 and rogue 4, so I use soon all weapon and armor. With Alert I will be less defenseless.
