What Sort of Pets Would Your PC(s) Have

If you played in a game where PCs had pets, what sort of pet would your PC have. If you do play in a game where the PCs have pets, or are expected to have pets, and your PC has a pet, what sort of pet does he have?

I'll start this off with...

The last PC I had with a pet was a former priest of Chauntea turned priestess of Chauntea (it was such a nice looking belt) with a pet dire wolf. This was in AD&D2e when dire wolves were real dire wolves, not these jumbo sized puppies you get now-a-days.

Aleena (more an agent of Chauntea than your typical priestess actually) cast an Animal Friendship on the beast. For reasons best known to Chauntea it never wore off. Either that, or when it did wear off the dire wolf decided he liked Aleena anyway and was happy being a member of her pack.

She still had the animal when I retired the character at 15th.

Well, there is a wizard in my game who has a cat as a pet (as opposed to a familiar). The cat is huge and grossly lazy.

so he enchanted a huge pillow with a permament Unseen Servant to port it around everywere...

Other characters have dogs, weasels and songbirds as pets.

We have a regular zoo! :D

My current Ranger has his warhorse as an Animal Companion, mount, and pet. He would love to have a Pseudodragon, Shadowcat (sneaky, winged cats of housecat to jaguar size), or other large cat as a pet.

Had a ranger in 2e-he is revived in Bluffside- Hawk Drydor and his pets are the same for 3e---Blink Dogs :D He was a great PC, back in da day--ahhh memories.

Well right now, my one character in my main game, Djeta, has a familiar which is a bat caled Rasputin. She loves animals. She also travels with two horses, Dexy (short for Dexy's Midnight Runner :p ) and Eclipse. She's working on starting up a menagerie (sp?) of exotic creatures and maintain her own zoo, of sorts. It will be a long while before that happens though.

In my other game, my character Lily doesn't have any pets, although if the DM is cool with it, I think I'd like to have her have some sort of mangy dog. She's a rogue in a swashbuckler type setting and I don't know...I just picture her with a mangy mutt. Aside from that, she isn't as nature/animal loving as Djeta.

I'm also going to be in a Star Wars game starting up soon. Seriously doubt I'll have a pet there. Unless...well...Ewoks are SO cute ;)

I think having pets in game can be a good thing for some people...
It can be a motivator, it can pose issues that the DM can work with.

uh....just...you know... remember to feed them BEFORE the DM remembers you haven't fed them. In weeks. Months. Ick. ;)

While I've had pets for characters, usually I don't. The reason being I wouldn't want them being fireballed, killed, etc.

But I suppose you could say the fleas, ticks and other vermin infesting my ogres hide might count. He did have a mule as his animal companion for a time, but hasn't replaced it since levelling up.

Our party's halfling has a pet. A talking dog. It's a plot device or more likely a fetish our DM has. I'm waiting for us to get into a real nasty spell battle so I can point out the dog is in danger. I just do NOT like talking animals. Maybe it goes back to a druid being killed by a bear. Then being reincarnated as a bear and talking about travelling with the party. Drove me crazy.
