What school do you thing Raistlan would be as a 5E Wizard?
Some random thoughts:
I could make an argument for War Magic. He does seem to be a generalist vice a specialist and he is in wars a lot. He served as a Mercenary along side his brother early in life. Later in life (earlier in time) he commanded an Army of Dwarves. He also fought with the Solamnic Army at the High Clerist tower in the first Dragon war. As such he is no stranger to war and Armies.
I could also make an argument for Illusion given his ability to do tricks with a coin. Kind of the classic magician, he really wasn't using spells for this though, so I am not sure this fits.
Conjuration might be appropriate too considering his failed experiments at creating life.
Transmutation since his skin is Golden, his eyes are hourglasses and he sees everything aging (i.e. changing back to dust)
