What stat bonuses do you expect the non-elves will get?

If you assume that all the races in the PHB get two stats with a +2 bonus, except humans, what stats do you predict each race will have? I started to make a list and it ended up looking pretty weird, with a lot of +2 to Con.

I think they gave some races +2 to two stats to make up for some others getting only +2 to one stat and a more powerful power. It's just room for those +1 EL races to become +0 EL races now.

Even with the same total bonus, there's also the possibility of +4 to one stat.

But I agree with Mistwell - it may even have no bonus/strong powers, +2/good powers, +4 total/medium powers, +6 total/weak or no powers.

I think that the race swill all have some bonus to stats as part of the "rescaling" ability scores to no longer need "stat boost" magic items. We can't use SWSE as a guide here as it still used stat penalties which we know are gone. From the elf example we see +2 on 2 stats making them good at classes with those primary attributes (ranger, rogue and cleric). Based on that and information from R&C, my initial "guess" looks something like this. I don't think any two races will get the same bonus due to the drive to make every race feel different.

Dragonborn = +2 STR, +2 INT
* Fierce and strong warriors, sellswords, soldiers, mercenaries, draconic and examples of fighter, warlock and wizard.

Dwarf = +2 CON, +2 WIS
* Fighter, Cleric an Paladin shown as 'favored'.

Elf = +2 DEX, +2 WIS
* Ranger, Rogue and Cleric as 'favored'.

Eladrin = +2DEX, +2 INT
* Specifically stated to still be elves in form and graceful, but with a favoring for Wizard.

Halfling = +2 DEX, +2 CON
* Athletic, agile, and though of small stature have "the ability to stand up to punishment that few could scarce credit".

Half-Elf = +2DEX, +2 CHA

Human = +2 to any two stats?
* Most versatile and adaptable race.

Tiefling = +2 CON, +2 CHA

My own nickel...

I see a Charisma bonus rather than Intelligence, personally; I don't have R&C myself (too busy to go and pick it up) but that's my bet.

Frankly, I'd be happy if dwarves were all CON, all the time.

Well, we know this is right.

Certainly seems reasonable.

Not sure how I feel about halflings with a CON bonus, honestly. Seems like any unusual toughness is accounted for by a lack of a CON penalty for their small bones and whatnot.

Arrrrgh I wish they were gone, because this makes perfect sense...except for the Charisma bonus appearing out of nowhere in their bloodline. I'd be happier with +2 DEX and a menu selection of interesting elf, human, and synergistic abilities.

:\ I'd sooner a single stat with a bump and a metric pantload of feats, honestly.

Sold! And perfectly reasonable for a race whose racial ability involves getting hit.

Humans will most certainly get their free feat and skill. :)

I hope they don't get ability mods. I also really hope they don't make the 'corruptable' fluffy thing into a mechanic.

IMO dragon born will get a bonus to Str and either Int or Cha or all 3. Its gonna be a sicko race. And I bet they start off with breath weapon off the bat. (I hope this is so btw)

Hmmm... pondersum. Like the thinking of the above but was thinking this is more like what I would like to see:

Human: +1str, +1Con, +1Int, +1Wis (prime requisite versatility. Probably won't get any stat boost in reality and get extra feats instead, that's tradition for you)

Halfling: +2Dex, +1Con, +1Int (or maybe cha - can't decide)

Elf: er...+2Dex, +2Wis (to late to argue with it now :) )

Eladrin: +3 Int, +1Dex (Not as athletic as the elf)

Dwarf: +3Con, +1Wis (Tough Tough Tough)

Half Elf: +1dex, +1Con, +2Cha (more likely they should get dual choice on racial feat abilities...?)

Teifling: +1str, +2Con, +1Cha

Dragonborn: +2 Strength, +2Cha/Int (depending on how they fit in magically)

This is just on a stat spread basis and a personal preference which you can feel free to pull apart to your hearts content as I doubt it will be the way things pan out, still its nice to day dream sometimes. :)

There's no way they're going to bring back +1 stat bonuses.

Anyway, my picks...

Dragonborn: +2 Str, +2 Cha
Dwarves: +2 Str, +2 Con (Or +4 Con)
Eladrin: +2 Dex, +2 Int
Halflings: +4 Dex
Tieflings: +2 Con, +2 Cha
