D&D 5E (2014) What the warlord needs in 5e and how to make it happen.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not but the problem I see is the Warlord from 4th edition was a class that was built using the specific rules of that edition. You aren't going to get a carbon copy of that because the rules for 5th edition are a lot different that those of the previous edition so if the Warlord isn't performing like the one from 4th edition then nobody will be happy with it.
No one has asked for a carbon copy. All the classes have existed before. All of them are different from previous editions. No one expects otherwise.

Could someone explain to me where that idea came from?

Also, the warlord existed in 3.5 as the completely under powered Marshal. It's not a 4e thing.

Wizards has already provided Warlord type subclasses that utilize the 5th edition rules.
Sub-classes, yes.
But there's too much to fit into a sub-class, particularly since the martial base classes have so much hard-coded, and there's no way to swap out damage for effects.

I remember the Marshal, I think it was an aura based class if I remember correctly.

One of the strongest parts of the Warlord was it's triggering and interrupt abilities that were abundant in 4th edition but which aren't in 5th. Most of the people screaming for a Warlord are probably wanting the class to play very much like the one in 4th edition. We have several "Warlord" options in 5th edition but none seem good enough even though they do work.

Marshal, huh? Interesting. What book did that turn up in and what was the focus of said book, if I may ask?
Miniatures Handbook.
Why?

Careful. You might hurt all the other 5e subclasses' feelings with comments like that.
Then make a modular maneuver class that can fit everyone from assassin to defender to sniper to warlord.

The same way you can fit illusionist, divination, and evoker in the same class. Or life, death, and light clerics all in the same class.

Which part do you not understand? I'll explain it again.

Making maneuvers a wide spread mechanic is too late, they have used it to define the Battlemaster.
