I did not attend DDXP unfortunately, but I am surprised they didn't do something like this...
As I understand it, they ran a module (or two) with first level characters each day of D&DXP. Shouldn't they have maybe ran higher level adventures as the weekend went on? Friday would be a lvl 1 adventure to get people used to the rules and such, Sat a level 10 or 15 adventure, and then Sunday a level 30 epic adventure (while still continuing to offer 1st level adventures for those coming late to the show). This way, we would have a better idea of how high level plays out.
I assume they didn't do that because they would have to reveal a LOT more stuff (powers, feats, etc.). But still, would have been nice. And maybe it would have stopped some of the "All I did was used the same power over and over again" because you'd have access to more options at later levels, and people would have been able to experience that.
Anyway, just a thought
Carry on...
