What was CAR WARS?

No, the Dragons rules were in Autoduel Quarterly, as well as a revised version of the magic rules from Space Gamer (with more spells... about 6 months after the issue with Dragons in it)

Car Wars

A great game that I spent HOURS on. I also had my first realization that GMs and players may not agree on what constitues a cool game with the CW rpg supplement (I bought GURPS solely to run Autoduel.)

I started up a campaign envisioning knights in shining chrome, I got thugs and punks, complete with mohawks.

I wonder if I still had all my CW stuff, if I could get a game going at the FLGS.

Wow...

That rattles the old 80's nostalgia cage. For me it was one of the best boardgame experiences to be had. I subscribed to the AADA and received the autoduel quarterly. I probably still have a hat with the logo somewhere in a box in the garage. Serious math crunchy in the back of English class. Having the weight limit for a Extra Heavy Luxury chassis memorized (6600ibs). I remember building big arenas with 3 D ramps etc and using micromachines rather than cardboard. Ah yes those were the summers of vulcan machineguns and artful dodgers(flaming oil jets)

wash your mind out with soap.

it was never a card game.

Wrong-O. There is in fact a game available from SJG called Car Wars: The Card Game. It is not the Car Wars that was being asked about, but it is fun. It is also compatible with Battle Cattle The Card Game :)

My friends and I still meet once in a while and break out our Car Wars stuff, most of which is over 15 years old.

I've always thought Car Wars would make an awsome MMOG.

Bovians vs 18-wheelers. That must have been messy.

Got you beat, Diaglo (for once).

I'll bring the old plastic bag edition of Car Wars. Although I don't have any of the others in plastic bag editions... I have Sunday Drivers and Truck Stop in the pocketbox editions.

has anyone tried the new edition of car wars. They seem to have is so you must buy a $7 book and get 2 cars instead of designing your own. (which was half the fun).
