D&D as story game. I like games with the purpose of telling stories, I just think it sucks royally for D&D.

Did this actually happen? I mean, I've been in (and run) sessions where there was no combat but they were still fun. But you need some combat during the course of the game.A table where a fight almost never happens. And when it does, it is hand-waved because half the players and the dungeon master do not know or care about the combat rules. Bored now!
It happens. We've had two or more sessions pass with no combat. They're (almost) never boring, though; it's usually because we're in the middle of a mystery or really good roleplaying (or both). As long as the stakes are high, and there's conflict, for me it doesn't always have to be combat.Did this actually happen? And, for the reason above, I won't tolerate any of the D&D experience systems, period. This is not to say that anyone who disagrees is wrong, it merely emphasizes the need for options within the rules.Libramarian said:Mine is: "I don't use XP. I just give out levels whenever I feel like it." Doesn't work for me. I can't do my thing at the same table as people doing that.
I hate all of those things. I weeded out the offending players a long time ago.Kingreaper said:"I want to win at D&D" is the worst one for me.
Others include "Everything should be 100% by the book" rules-lawyers, and worse "Everything should be 100% realistic" reality-lawyers.
Another one that I agree with.Yora said:Dungeon Crawl: Entering a dungeon, killing monsters, and searching for valuables, just because that's what PCs do all day.
