What Will D&D4 Mean to the Enworld Boards?

Eric, how many members did we have back in 2000, when you first started out? Just curious :)

cheers,

I don't have an inkling. I wasn't really measuring that. I do know that it took the first year (Aug 99 to Aug 00) to reach my first million hits on my news page. Between Aug 00 and Aug 01 when I retired, there were 5 million more hits added on to that.

Most of the topics in the general area are general enough to be equally interesting for 4e fans and those rose-coloured-glass-wearing 3e Neanderthals who will still be sticking around. Not to mention other retrogrades, like me. ;)

Splitting the rules forum may be a decent idea, though.

The most people we've had online at one time is 3216 this past July. The trend has been steadily rising; we add about 40 new members a day. I'm not sure about our hits nowadays, though, although a year ago I wrote down that we got over 100 million hits a year.

Nifty!

No worries. Even right now, we tolerate those Predition fans who live in the past without branding them "lesser gamer" as they really are, I'm sure we'll tolerate those lessers who will decide to stick to 3e.

Just kidding, just kidding! ;) About the predition and living in the past and them being lesser gamers stuff. Not about the fact that people who don't even play the current game are active here, and don't seem to be bored out of their heads. I don't think this will change at all with the next edition.

I see EN World go. Go up! Only way these boards could be going. They probably have the best moderators and administrators out there, and the community is also just great - sure, it has its fair share of jerks, but a lot less than any other big board I've seen, and they're dealt with far more efficiently, too.

Wow... if ENW does really explode next year like Eric is thinking it will, things are going to be hectic around here :confused:

Any word on ENW2, and when it'll be coming out? It'd super sweet to get in the second version of ENW for a 4e release date, methinks.

cheers,

EnW2 Is really 4th Edition.

You had the Black and Red site, The rpgplanet one, then enworld.org

Which one had the Erol Otus Cover Art?

I kind of hope that EN World diversifies a bit, and I can find other lost souls to talk to about gaming in general. I think the D&D focus is great, but I can tell already I'm not going to be as grounded in 4e.
