I am such a WotC whore - the only one I didn't check was the "Fiend Folio" (which I will be trying to buy later today). I also think of the "mega-modules" as books (maybe it's the price tag :D ) I also have all the modules published by WotC for 3rd edition, except maybe one. Is there a Myth Drannor or Pools of Radiance module? If so, that's the only one I don't have. I think that buying habit is going to stop. The quality is too variable, and there are other games I want to buy books for (Weird Wars, The End, Call of Cthulhu, etc.).

For favorite? Well, I've never run a game or played in FR, but the FRCS is a great book. I'm DMing a group into "City of the Spider Queen" starting next month, and we're doing all monster characters. So, "Savage Species" is in my top 5 right now.

Of course, PHB gets the most use, so it's in my top 5 automatically. Can't play without it.

Can't think of anything else to put in my Top 5, so make it a Top 3 and I'm done. But I'm also fickle, and my Top 3 will change over time. :)

Oh, wait, add Living Greyhawk Gazetteer--it's a Top 4 right now....

Well, all three core books have something for everyone. PHB is a simple necessity. MM is good for creating character concepts, studying attack methods for rangers/rogues, etc. DMG has all the magic weapons, so naturally everyone is going to have one of those.

- Lynda Barry, Cruddy

Did you really read that novel? Heh. What a bizarre, dark, sick -- and utlimately depressing, albeit funny -- story that one was.

My favorite would be the Book of Vile Darkness.

SPecifically, this poll kind of pointed out how many of these books I don't want.

ELH - no way no how. Not my idea of how to do epic level characters.

Savage Species - Usually don't allow monsterous PCs, so I have no use

FR - boring. Been there done that. Don't like the power level.

Arms + Equipment. Big departure from the 2e version which I loved. No thanks.

I think I figured out why 2.d edition felt so much better than 3rd.....TSR made 2nd, WotC made 3rd... YEAH! AHA! EUREKA! I HAVE FOUND IT! Too bad TSR is no more...:(

I too, have gripes about the ELH. The rate of power progression accelerates at LEAST four-fold once you hit THEIR idea of epic levels. I don't know how my group is going to handle epic levels, but I think the ELH gives us an idea of what to AVOID.

Missing Option

Since there isn't a "None" option available, my vote will go uncounted. (Of course, I'm from Florida, so I'm used to that sort of thing.)

Favorites are probably Races of Faerun and Magic of Faerun. I'm also finding a lot of good ideas for a "northern" campaign in Silver Marches.

(If it matters, please note that I have NEVER run an actual Forgotten Realms campaign, so I love these books based on the number of good ideas I can steal, not because I have any specific bias toward Forgotten Realms!)

I read it every year. It is the only novel that I can't get "out of my head" but reading it over and over seems to help.

That father character--shudder--I think I have an archetype for chaotic evil in a modern setting, now.

My former .sig quotation was the line, "Even though she was an evil fungus growing on 200 pounds of irritated lard, her feelings were real." Poor Pammy, she just can't win.

Yeah, the book is funny (in places), but overall it's much more depressing & dark than funny. Although, I can't even look at a "Little Debbie" the same way after that novel. :D

Ooop, sorry, end of hijack.
