What would you like to see dropped from Dungeon?

I really don't get all the Downer hate. The storyline might be a bit obscure, but I like the art design. It's different. And like somebody said up in the rest of the thread, it actually feels like it could be somebody's wierd D&D game (yay! myconids!).

Now, what I think should leave is the Portent. Downer might not always be funny (is it supposed to be? kinda), Mt. Zogon might not always be funny (it usually is; why do people hate it?), but the Portent is actual Anti-Humor. With each installment, the rest of the world gets less humorous, until eventually all that will be left is despair.

IMO, of course.

Demiurge out.

Mt. Zogon and Portent are lame because they just try too hard to capture the humor of Knights of the Dinner Table. And as is generally the case, forced humor isn't funny. Taking pot-shots at the Hack-n'-Slash cliches of D&D is about as path-of-least-resistance as you can get.

Same goes for Dork Tower, but only worse since it's an even more blatant KotDT knock-off.

Downer at least takes a stab at being witty.

Letters to the Editor.

I'm all for providing the editors with reader feedback...but I never understood why I should read it.

Honestly, the letters seem to fall into three categories: fawning praise, whiny complaints, and pedantic bores.

I hear enough nerd pule on the internet. Why waste good trees.

I like Downer. Quite a bit, actually. It's one of the first things I turn to. Mt Zogon is hit and miss (although Zogonia, in Dragon, is consistantly funny). The Portent is a waste of space, IMHO, but it doesn't take up much room, so if other people like it, I can deal with that. OOTS would be nice, but I get to read that 3 times a week as is.

One thing I'd definitely change is the text identifying the "Knight of Nee" plush as a "Mini Black Knight" plush. ;)

I know Peter (who does The Portent) IRL. He has never read KotDT.

Of course, it might be that he's cutting it close to the KotDT style, but in his case it is unintentional, I assure you.

Cheers!

I'm the kind of guy that wants to read every single bit of a magazine in order to get my money's worth.

Brother, I feel your pain. I read every single word in Dungeon as well.

But how completist are you? Do you feel guilty--like me--if you don't read every single stat bar?

I mean, money is money. Gotta ring every single cent of info out of it, don't you? :D
