What would you want out of a game based on Ancient Egypt?

Ancient Egypt? Historical accuracy is cool, and helps add good flavor. There are so many great things to play with in Egypt's 3000+ BCE history that it's hard to say where I would want it to go. Really Old Kingdom, before the country was united and most of the monuments were built? New Kingdom, when most Egyptians knew little about the great monumnets that surrounded them, but copied the art as reliably as possible? The Hyksos invasions, when the Kingdom mostly fell to raiders (a period of great turmoil and a great adventure setting).

I think if you think New Kingdom, you would have all these great tombs to dig into, full of potent curses and powerful undead. Be careful with the loot, cause of the priests catch you it would be the Hamdi or some other very unpleasant deal for you and your mates.

That's what I would want.

I'd love something flavored like the movie "The Scorpion King" personally.

All the cool gods and magic, but none of the tedious historical accuracy.

BTW, I seem to remember a wonderful alternate multiverse system in 3.0 Dieties and Demigods for an Egyption mythos. The standard planes don't really fit the flavor. If only I still had that book I could give more information.

I've posted this before, but check out this site for some fun info. There's an atlas of the entire Valley of Kings there, with each of the dozens of royal tombs described in exquisite detail, right down to the decorations on the walls in each passage and chamber.

I would also prefer not to bother with Historical Accuracy. Or rather, I wouldn't mind Historical Accuracy but it adds nothing extra to the game for me, so I'd rather the DM not sacrifice other aspects of the game to maintain it.

What I'd like to see in an Ancient Egyptian game is the atmosphere of that era. The morbid fascination with death, the ancient curses, kings that are also gods... Booby-trapped tombs. A city of the dead. A book of the dead. Lots of scarabs...

That's what I'd be looking for as well.

Pyramids, mummies, curses and chariots. Oh my!

A requirement for all PCs with a royal background to take "Result of Inbreeding" as a background feat? Nah! I'll vote for the flavor of the period(s), as MerakSpielm and Lord Pendragon mentioned. If it includes some historical accuracy, fine, but that's not necessary for me.

Well, I asked because I was researching clothing styles in Ancient Egypt so that I could see if there are any cues I could take from Ancient Egypt into my Atlantis Campaign.
