Whatever happened to old board members...

I feel really old now. I remember the huge argument about Fireball, "Fire pellet," and Lightning Bolt that broke out before 3e was released.

Ah, the joys of the threaded forum making it more or less impossible to follow topics. I was so happy when Eric decided to make the change to ENboards v2, even if it wasn't really very good either. I learned html code because that was what you had to use there, but at least you could register your username. :)

I remember when Eric was the only mod too, and the first Pantheon thread was the one I posted to. I corrected Crypt King's spelling of Orc and got into it with him for a few day's. O the heady days when this place was in it second incarnation and there was only 200 or so folks on here.

This was before the chat room so when we had a chat with the guy(what's Ian's last name ?) who wrote the Sherwood Forest Dungeon and article for the Dragon . It was the first time I had "Talked" to Eric, PirateCat and others, even with a lousy connection it was fun :D. After the board went past a 1000 regestered users Eric was a giddy as a school girl even more so then when the New's forum hit a Million.

No "Nebin" isn't my regular ID I'm just to lazy to relog in, can you name my real one ? And no the others Iconics can't play most of them know already( that includes you too Jack).

Malcolmson.

The man's name is Malcolmson.

Not Malcomson.

Not Malcolmsen.

The past tense of "talk" is "toolk". Hope this helps!

You are Eric's grandmother and I claim my ONE! MILLION! DOLLARS!

When I first joined there was just Eric controlling this place and the board was IIRC one of those email-ish boards where you just typed in the name you wanted to use each time you posted, I only posted like twice on that board. Was that the 1st edition?

Anyhooy, then just a week or two later we switched to new boards, I think there were one edition between the 1st one and the one where all the topic headers came in this one really long front page that took like an half an hour to completely load.

I was also a part of the very first Pantheon thread as the God of Trouts. I quickly lost interest and only posted a dozen posts or so.

I see him sometimes. I wish he was around more often.

I can - but I won't since I, like them Iconix guys, have unfair advantages here (in addition to my 1337 moderator powers, that is). :o

I can't think of a more appropriate place to put this next statement of opinion:

I am very glad that the Pantheon left, and many of them went to their own clubhouse at Nutkinland.

They lose not much, whilst they free up these boards for others (not myself, BTW).

I applaud them on doing the migration.

eidt: Plus, without them, there wouldn't be the In-Character Forum.
And that has amazingly blossomed into an incredible roleplaying environment.

Gah, the funniest part is that it isn't Malcolmson. It's Malcomson. No second "L." He was really cheesed that either Dragon or Dungeon (or it might have been both) got it wrong. For some reason the incorrect spelling apparently gave the impression that he's Scotish, which he's not. :)

My random Pantheon thoughts:

I was only an honorary member at best. I just wasn't clever enough to play as "big" as they played.

There was a time when the 20 or so members of the pantheon would have represented a big percentage of posters. :)

The schtick was great. And they knew enough to quit while they were ahead. And an occaisional reprise is lovely.

They were generally very cool about sticking to one (giant) thread at a time.

I will always have a soft, warm, slightly gooey spot in my heart for them .... and that time in my life and in the site's existence in general.

There's no one like Forgotten Hater at her best.
