Anyone remember Charwoman Gene? A name derived from faulty translation software IIRC! And does the anarchic PA still appear now and then?

FWIW I'm on Henry's old list, but under my original name before I assumed *ahem* a pseudonym.

"the pantheon" were they those pompus jerks who refused to believe that the opinions of others could posibly have merrit? were they the ones who pretty much believed themselves the only true roleplayers among us at the time? in a hobby full of social oddities (myself included, you have to admit that few and far between are the roleplayers who are "cool" by society's standards) why people would choose to segregate the community into some kind of class system i do not know.

perhaps i have missed the mark, or perhaps my memory does not serve correctly. this however is how i remember the pantheon: arrogance personified. no flame intended, my lowly opinion should not matter to a god anyway.

They flamed you that bad, huh? ;)

No...flame...intended...

RIIIIGGHHHHT...

And if you really miss everybody, go to Nutkinland...

I remember when I arrived for the very first time on the first ENboards, Cyberzombie was the person that made me feel at home. Always had a soft spot for Matt after that :)

You may well have had different experiences than mine.

I am an original member of the Pantheon. (Henry, God of Enthusiasm, "C'mon, August!", Deities local #7347, pleased to meet you.) However, I no longer play in those ivory halls of Mount Hater.

The whole pantheon thing started as loads of fun, and membership was a difficult as getting membership into B.A.D.D. - if you could think of a portfolio that had not been taken, such as, Say, God of Washing Pink Bottles on Days that End in "Y", then you felt free to participate.

HENRY'S PAGE OF BOARD HISTORY:

LITTLE-KNOWN FACT: The Pantheon threads were the absolute beginnings of the In-Character Forum. People complained about Pantheon threads existing in General, so Eric came up with a place for them.

"CHARWOMAN GENE": Charwoman Gene was the result of Eric running one day's front page news through a Translator program (I beleive Babelfish on Altavista). It mangled the page in quite humorous ways, including turning the Character Generator (that came with the PHB) into "Charwoman Gene." A poster with the last name of Gauthier (can't remember his first name) picked up on this and started posting as "Charwoman Gene."

The poster who was Charwoman Gene actually started the idea of the Pantheon. With a thread about deciding to be a god, the other posters of the time joined in, and the in-character Pantheon Thread was born. The first Pantheon thread may have been the first thread to exceed psoting size on those old boards!
