OTOH, there's no reason why the Cleric must imply medium BAB, full armour proficiencies and d8 for HD. 2nd Edition had Specialty Priests you could mix and match -- perhaps with a little effort they could put those proficiencies in the talent tree, for instance, even if the HD and the BAB are harder to do.

I wouldn't be surprised to see "nature" as one of the power sources in PHBII, along with psionics and something else. (Technology, maybe, as PHBII will precede Eberron 4e.)

Maybe not called nature, but Cosmos. Something grander. Universal energy of everthing that fuels gods as well. Primitive races imagine it as power of nature. Gods grant distilled and safer version of this power to clerics, druid take it raw.
